How so? Even though the NFL allows coaches to interview, it doesn't mean that those coaches are not busy preparing for the playoffs. The Pats treated him as an afterthought compared to the other 5 teams that he agreed to meet with. Total control should be a nonstarter. It doesn't happen anymore and frankly that model stopped working a long time ago. We had an exception because Bill was a super football genius and Tom is the GOAT and they were able to keep it going even when Bill stopped drafting well a decade ago.

If Vrabel can find a renowned GM to come in with him, he's fine (he'd still be my second choice). Full control will be a disaster.

In corporate speak, all effective teams are organized in a way that there is one throat to choke when a decision needs to be made or things go bad. GM or coach led depends on who is at the table. I could see a structure where Wolf is responsible for scouting, etc. and Vrabel gets final call on decisions.
