The official Patriots vs Lions's pre-season game thread

Looks like the Patriots minds are back on the East coast and their families..... They certainly aren't on football. Ugly all the way arround.

New England is fine. It's not even raining that much in New York

You should have game planned Bill. The Lions did.

Why?

Why should BB have gameplanned this tonight? What is at stake?

I CAN say that it is on national TV and there are plenty of scouts in the stadium for the 3rd preseason game (the one traditionally where scouts can see the closest thing to regular season stuff).

At this point, BB knows what he has on that defensive side of the ball. They are not playing the rabid, pit bull D of last week. They are playing the bend and break of last year.

I will say the one worrying thing tonight is the OL. Everyone is complaining (rightfully) about the pass protection, but notice the run push from them is non-existent. The only good gains have come on draws.

cant wait to see what Cannon has. his presence cant hurt. also, i'd like to kick the tires on Gurode from the Cowboys. maybe we can make a trade for him, although i dont know what his contract is like.

all i know is our RG and C positions are not our strong points. we need to upgrade

Haynesworth already did that.

I think we're due for an upgrade at RG first, but Koppen is visibly on the decline.
I won't disagree with that. I have some faith that Marcus Cannon could be that upgrade.

The O line...and individual matchups ...look overmatched at times so far

what does this mean as far a a regular season game with counters being gameplanned for such occurrences?...nothing....tonight's game is all about individual evaluations..and quite frankly, a number of players have made the cutdown an easier chore than it was last week.

This is the final preseason game. I highly doubt the "starters" of this game will be the exact same "starters" next week.

pretty sure we still got the Giants up next

Sorry jack...don't get your point.

That there's no direct correlation between preseason play and regular season play?

Really, it's not that complicated.

Looks like the Patriots minds are back on the East coast and their families..... They certainly aren't on football. Ugly all the way arround.

I've been thinking the same thing.

Cannon certainly will fill that void at RG

Perhaps a lot of you are forgetting WHO was left back at home...I feel like a sucker that I got roped into thinking this was a typical full game plan third preseason game...this has been disgustingly vanilla for a fan

Has the team ever looked this bad in any of their preseason games since 2001? I honestly don't think they have. If anyone can name one in which the starters got kicked around the way they did, I'd love to be enlightened....anyone know of a third preseason game in which the Patriots were down 27-10 in the Belichick era????????

I was being sarcastic about the game planning. But I agree about this O-line. The center play has been horrific. I hope Koppen is just having a bad night or Brady might not last the season.

I recall Tampa and Denver for years making us look worse then we were. Especially the Donkeys. Even in our heyday we just barely squeaked by them with a miracle play and a crazy call by Belichick. After seeing last years game with the Lions and tonight, I'm thinking like years past with Denver, we just don't match up with them well.

Game is meaningless

2004....pats lose 3 preseason games by a combined score of 82-20

It all means nothing

Cannon certainly will fill that void at RG

Save for the numerous times the Patriots brought extra men only to see Stafford complete a 20 yard pass.....

Actually Bedard tweeted there were only 6 scouts on hand tonight which is way down from the previous 2 games.
