The Official Patriots vs Gaints Pre-Season Game Thread

Yes, cutting the team's punt returner (and probably a top 3 PR in the entire league) in favor of a guy who would be a healthy scratch most games. Makes sense.

but there is a reason why fans would want Sims over Edelman for strictly WR measurables...in real terms, Edelman is set on this roster

I know I might get slaughtered for saying this, but I think the Pats should cut Edelman and keep Sims!

But I love him! No homo.

I didn't fall in love with Dobson this preseason, I hope to in the regular season.

I think he'll make up for it in regular season. I could say the same thing about Boyce, but he came through today and last week.

Ummmmmm....... NO. Let Simms simmer on the PS for a little while. I think he can be decent, but he's no quite at JE's level yet {yes, I mean when JE is healthy}.

Sims has looked good in practice and looked great tonight. Going to be very hard for them to expose him and get him onto the PS, I think. Plus on a team with this many question marks at receiver it's doubly hard to risk it.

Lots of tough calls on the roster.

Well some things were made clear tonight.

The top 4 RBs are locks. Ridley, Vereen obviously but Bolden and Blount i think didn't have a single snap tonight. Must mean they are on.

I think Washington/Develin were competing for a spot Washington won.

Hopefully Winn makes the PS but i don't see us carrying him.

TE has not been cleared up. Fells looked okay, Ballard blocked but didn't get a catch and IDK what Hooman did.

Don't recall seeing Francis out there much but Bequette is making a case (I think Buchanana was already on the 53 anyway). It is gonna be hard to let Bequette go after tonight and I have not seen much this preseason to make me think we should keep Francis or Cunningham over him. He may have won a job tonight but know knows.

Beauharnais has had a solid preseason and I think makes the team at the expense of Tarp and Rivera.

and IDK what Hooman did.

sounds like a rap movie

Breer.......
That was my guess. Major ball-washing on tap for Breer tomorrow afternoon on 98.5 from Squeaky and the DB...

I very much disagree. I want Sims as a PS WR. Hope it happens.

I understand why you said it though. He has good size and speed.

Edelman had a good preseason, he led the team in receptions coming into tonights game, I too was impressed with Sims but I agree Edelman is a lock as he should be.l

LOL

Seriously though can anyone remember 1 play Hooman made tonight. He was out there but I can't recall 1 play he made for us.

Three Up:
* Michael Buchanan - Monster of a night with 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Hasn't shown much consistently in preseason/training camp, and is a 7th round pick. He's a developmental prospect who may have a hard time clearing waivers.

* Jake Bequette - After being nonexistent all preseason, he finally shows up. He wasn't dominant, yet made a lot of solid plays. He's in his 2nd year and is a 3rd round pick. He could be released and tried to be snuck onto the practice squad, but I think the team gives him 1 more year.

* Tim Tebow - Inconsistent for sure, but made the plays when they needed them. May have very well won a roster spot.

Three Down:
* Adrian Wilson - Played well into the 3rd quarter. As a veteran, this isn't a promising sign, especially since he has not stood out much in any way.

* Leon Washington - Rough night in the backfield and in the return game.

* Aaron Dobson - Didn't compete hard enough for some balls, but he's a rookie, let us remember. He is also very raw. He has flashed a few times this preseason.

Sims won't go through waivers unclaimed. He'll be placed on I.R. with a "hamstring injury." Think Victor Cruz in 2010.

sometimes I fantasize about real weird things...like the "Punch In The Mouth Box"...that's like this seat inside a clear plexiglass enclosure and you sit a dink like Breer on it and then let him ask questions while this giant boxing glove on a lever is aimed at his face...rig the glove to respond to vote tallies and then , after each question, if the nays outweigh the yeas, the glove punches him right in the face...I could watch something like that all day and night...

Wouldn't shock me if Francis is shown the door, he didn't do much to show any second year leap.

Tebow only goes up Zolak's wazoo about 351 nautical miles.

Another miracle catch by Giants vs Pats

And keep Tebow -- with Tebow/Sims the scout team will be unstoppable and really keep the D on its toes.

@NEPD_Loyko
Well Tebow threw the fade better than Mallett and Sims adjusted better than Dobson.

Truth. Mallett had the better night though.

But I'm really intrigued by Sims and I like what I've seen from him more than what we've seen from Dobson. I'm actually kinda down on Dobson, he doesn't get good position and he doesn't fight for the ball as much as I'd like to see. Sims showed that tonight in spades.
