The OFFICIAL Patriots vs. Browns Post Game Thread

There's probably not a clip, but McCourty made a very similar hit on Gordon not much later — obviously not on the knee or injury-causing, but as you say "your standard smaller DB vs. bigger TE/WR hit."

The funny thing was that I didn't see anybody in the game thread calling that hit dirty. I guess it's different when it's a Patriot making the hit instead of absorbing it.

We only lost one game in his absence didn't we? Hardly cause for suicide (and yes I know we had a better D then). We're fine with Vereen, Amendola and McDaniels

That is correct during his absence we beat the:

4-9 Bills
6-7 Jets
4-9 Bucs
3-10 Falcons
9-3 Saints

I know winning is winning but I am not exactly overwhelmed with confidence know that we beat 1 team with a winning record in the last 30 seconds of the game during his absence. As much as I would like to buy into the 8 targets for 4 reception 36 yards $5.7 million a year receiver and into the 0 points at half time game planning offensive coordinator I am just not that glass half full I guess. I do believe in Vereen however and Brady I am just not sure if that will be a enough, Brady is amazing and never ceases to amaze me but there is only so much one player can do at some point he needs someone who can win 1on1 matchups we saw that in the 2011 super bowl.

It's almost not worth watching the first half at this point.

318/523 = 60.8%, 3685 passing yards, 7.045889101 average, 21 touchdowns, 9 interceptions with the receivers he has taken the field with this season that’s remarkable. For more than 50% of Brady’s games he has been on the field with his #1 receiving target being a 7th round converted QB who signed a 1 year contract for less than $1 million in the offseason.

If you don’t appreciate what Tom Brady has done this season you don’t appreciate greatness.

Would like to see a little more greatness in the first half of games. Hearts are delicate things.

We know they can stop the run when they want to, other than the reverse and QB run the D held the browns to a 2.3 ypc avg.

LOL

So bad first halves are McDaniels' fault and not Brady's and good second halves should be credited to Brady and not McDaniels. This is about as disingenuous as it gets.

Ps. Re Amendola: You forgot "and caught the winning TD today".

But it was one of those Manning style 1 yard TDs that don't really count

Obviously Vereen isn't going to produce 150 yards from scrimmage every game, but let's not Overlook the fact that this is Vereen's breakout game. He also had a huge game against the Texans in the playoffs last year, so he HAS the ability.

Losing gronk hurts. I'm not going to pretend otherwise. But other players need to step up such as Vereen, Boyce, and Amendola. These guys Don't Quit! So don't count em out! That's when they make you look foolish.

Just ask Denver, New Orleans, and now Cleveland.

I think Vereen is great I am a huge fan of him, my only point is that you cannot expect a running back to have 12 receptions for 150 receiving yards on a weekly basis, heck you can’t expect a wide receiver to do that.

Was I the only one annoyed that Boger had to look to see how many fingers he had up when he announced what down it was?? Seriously, dude??? He did it multiple times........

how anyone can put blame on McDaniels is crazy. brady was litterally INCHES off his passes today going deep, if he throws a few passes better this games a blowout.

Pretty common theme actually, the Patriots come out run McDaniels game plan in the first half, they enter half time losing and then they come out and Brady puts the entire team on his shoulders and wills it the win. Where would we be without the brilliant half-back draw in the last 2 minutes of the game at the 1 yard line that causes us to use out last timeout I don't know but personally I look at the first half's as the 2011 St. Louis Rams then at half time Brady say hey Josh this isn’t working so well today with his GQ smile and Josh say what are you think and Brady say let’s do this, this and this and that’s what they do, but that’s just my personal belief and as you and all the other McDaniels faithful will point out I have to no proof of it, so I will save you the trouble – I have no proof of it.

As for Danny boy he is not that good, he can catch all the 1 yard undefended touchdown passes because the defense triple teamed his “backup” he wants it still doesn’t change the fact he has been one of the biggest failures of the 2013 free agent class in the entire NFL.

How far away is Hoomanawanui? We need him.

I actually like Michael Hoomanawanui and think they should work him into the offense more, he runs after the catch like an animal and in his two years here his numbers when he gets the opportunity are actually very impressive:

Targeted – 21
Receptions – 15
Ratio – 71.42%
Receiving yards – 223
Average – 14.86
First Downs – 9

He is also good as a run blocker, Hooman overall is one of the more undervalued players on this team, I agree his return will be very helpful.

When did Solder become a liability? Guy has been a revolving door

"McDaniels faithful". Funny. I call it being a Patriots fan and a believer that BB knows a damn sight more than you, me or anyone else on this thread. And the fact that he appointed McDaniels twice tells me a lot more than a person on a forum making stuff up.

As for your final paragraph, I'm really curious at your witch hunt on Amendola. Worst FA in the NFL? Good grief.

On this we agree. I think he's under appreciated in these parts.

Josh Gordon gave the Patriots a slit throat at 19-3.

Earlier we saw the Saints gather and celebrate their victory.

Never celebrate a victory over the Patriots until the Fat Lady wins American Idol!

Re: J Gordon gave the Patriots a slit throat at 19-3.

YUP! And NEVER leave or turn off a Pats Game until 0:00 is Final!

Re: J Gordon gave the Patriots a slit throat at 19-3.

I suspect his coach will use that as a teachable moment ...

Re: J Gordon gave the Patriots a slit throat at 19-3.

If the refs had seen that it would've been a 15-yard penalty. The "slit-throat" gesture was outlawed by the league years ago.
