I agree, it is fundamental. He couldn't believe that someone would post that the defensive wasn't a bad as what people are making it out to be. I can't believe someone would post that either.

What apple wrote is absolutely true considering the a.) injuries at key positions and b.) younger players being forced into starting roles as a result of said injuries.

I don't think 23 points is that bad, especially considering the short field they had on the Tate fumble and the series of penalties followed by a terrible punt.

Obviously this isn't a top-flight defense and they have serious issues. But I'm still optimistic in the long term because I like what I'm seeing so far out of the young'uns.

I'll take the win, but like most, not overly impressed.

The offense was a well-oiled machine today, led by none other than #12. Glad to see Randy haul in a couple of scores...and the TEs...what can you say! Very encouraging...

As for the D...echoing what's been said, pretty shoddy all around but some big plays when needed the most.

.....

To top things off, glad to see the Panthers stinking pretty bad. A lot of focus on the Raiders' first rounder which we own, but this Panthers pick might end up giving us absolute power at the draft.

personally i think the offense committed as many stupid plays of not more than the D esp in the first half. and when the bills scored their last td and we get the ball at mid field and went back 30 yards ???? those are just stupid mistakes which can cost them games vs better teams . The D is going to get hammered but the pats O share the blame for putting them in bad situations sometimes...

Hey Patspsycho.U have no clue.Fitzpatrick had a clean pocket all game long. This team still cant rush the passer!

Don't miss the schoolbus tomorrow morning.

Offense looked well rounded but they didn't seem to play with a ton of fire or enthusiasm. Although that could be because I got to watch the game without sound

I can't imagine there is a worse defense in the league than the one we've managed to assemble. I seriously hope it's just growing pains of a young defense because it's pitiful to watch.

I still think 23 points is sorta bad, but it's not as awful as people are saying, either. It was a step up from last week.

I dont think the D was so bad - 7 was off the terrible Tate turnover and the last TD was prevent D...

Haven't seen the Lions play yet, have you?

And the offense got 200 yards on the ground... a) how do you do that without 'fire or enthusiasm, and b) if you *can* do that without 'fire or enthusiasm', then who needs it anyways?

Offense looked good except for the mistake filled 2nd to last drive. That almost gave the Bills a chance, but the turnover iced it. I think the D is improving.

I was happy with the game. Fitzpatrick is a smart QB, he's going to get better, once he learns to keep from soaring his passes. this might be a different team in December, although, their D needs a lot of work.

I'll go with that!

Well then, I guess 23 points to the worse team in the league ain't so bad.

:bricks:

The Bills aren't the worst team in the league. Do you watch any non-Patriots games? They'd be competitive in the NFC West.

Either way, you might as well get used to games like this, because the Pats will be playing a lot of them.

The Bills punted once.

That's not the sign of a D playing well in my mind

It's funny how "not as bad as people are saying" turns into "good" on the internet. There is no question that we need another corner, but there were certainly some positives at other positions.

Funny how those who live in reality are called "chicken littles" for saying this defense is bad. I would think that those who try to convince themselves that the defense has improved would be the "chicken littles"

Don't get me wrong. Of course it's bad.

But I'm not going to freak out about it, because this is more or less what I expected. Sometimes bad teams play well and sometimes good teams play poorly. This defense is not very good at the moment but it appears to have some upside. That's all I can really take away from today.

A clean pocket? He didn't even have a pocket, half the time. He just did a good job of hitting open receivers after he was flushed out.

That's true. Very true. It's also a lie that the Bills have i the leagues worst offense. That might have been true with Edwards under center, but not with FitzPatrick taking the snaps. The difference is that Fitz can move around much better than Edwards, and isn't nearly as gun-shy.

We got the win, and I have more problems with the penalties we took on Offense than with how the Defense performed. The D did what they had to do, and NE won the game. Now it's on to Miami, and hopefully another win in the division.

After all, the FIRST goal of any team is to win their division. Everything else is secondary, because that's the straight road into the post season.

And you would be wrong for making that assertion.

That's certainly your opinion; thanks for sharing. But if you want to make that argument, it usually helps when you don't make lazy straw men out of other people's posts.

And since you appear to be mathematically challenged as well, I'll just note that what you just posted isn't, erm, true.

Your lack of objective observations regarding the Patriots is hilarious. I'm glad we won, but I know our defense sucked today.

I don't even want to try to think how you feel we played today. It's always Sunny in la la land.

If you guys want to see a bad defense, look at the Redskins. A week after allowing two 140+ yard receivers, they just gave up a 90+ yard touchdown to DANIEL FELLS.

If Buffalo didn't suck, that game could have been completely different, with Buffalo opening up a nice lead in the first half. On the other hand, Buffalo didn't get it done, similar to the Patriots missing out on points in the first half last week.

About the only thing we learned today is that the offense probably won't be able to get by with just being "good" against the better teams on the schedule. Unless the defense improves dramatically, there could be games where the offense needs to score every single time it gets the ball.
