The Official NFL Cut Thread

At this point we should have a good idea who is on the roster. I have it down to 54 possible players.

The last 3 spots going to four of McCarron - WR, Crossen - CB, Tobin - OT, Croston - OT.

LB Grigbsy now has to be considered a lock with the release of Flowers. He will be kept to fill a STs role and there is no way Sam knocks him off the roster.

We know the 9 at DL with the 9th being Davis over Valentine. Grissom and Harris are not making it at this point. They would just be too redundant and don't offer the STs value other back end roster guys do IMO.

The only thing that could mix things up is if one of the interior OL man besides Karras makes the roster. I don't see it happening and I think we go in with 9 instead of 10. But anything is possible.

Maybe in a shocking turn they cut Roberts at LB but I don't think they go that route. It would make them very thin at that spot with King and Grigbsy being mostly STers.

I thought he was ahead of Roberts. Oh well, there always has to be a Richards sort of left.

Don't necessarily think he was competing with Robert's. Grigsby and perhaps Sam were his biggest competition. Grigsby seemed to be ahead on the depth chart and also cheaper with more years of control.

2013 says hi.

2013 was stronger on paper going into the season unless you think suspended, 5 years older and recovering from major knee surgery Edelman is as good or better than his 2013 self

They need Dorsett and Patterson to be much better than what they've shown in the NFL thus far for this to be a competent unit.

This one is baffling to me. A pro bowl kicker who was the second most accurate kicker in NFL history.

I wonder if there’s some concern about the injury that he had last year? He seemed to return just fine after a few games, IIRC.

Wheaton is a blast from my scouting past. One of my bigger busts.

Wouldnt hate Seeing if we can fix Martavius

At this point the only question for the roster is did the Patriots keep either James Ferentz or Brian Schwenke? If not then the roster SHOULD end up looking like this when all is said and done. (Assuming no injury news happens).

QB (2) T.Brady, B.Hoyer
RB (6) J.Hill, J.White, R.Burkhead, S.Michel, B.Bolden, J.Develin
WR (5) C.Hogan, P.Dorsett, C.Patterson, M.Slater, R.McCarron
TE (3) R.Gronkowski, D.Allen, J.Hollister
C (1) D.Andrews
G (3) S.Mason, J.Thuney, T.Karras
T (4) T.Brown, M.Cannon, L.Waddle, C.Croston
DE (5) A.Clayborn, T.Flowers, D.Wise, D.Rivers, K.Davis
DT (4) M.Brown, D.Shelton, L.Guy, A.Butler
ILB(3) D.Hightower, J.Bentley, E.Roberts
OLB(3) K.VanNoy, B.King, N.Grigsby
CB (6) S.Gilmore, E.Rowe, J.Jones, D.Dawson, J.Jackson, K.Crossen
SS (3) P.Chung, J.McCourty, N.Ebner
FS (2) D.McCourty, D.Harmon
ST (3) S.Gostkowski, R.Allen, J.Cardona

Not keeping either would bring them down to 8 OL men. Kind of low for the Patriots TBH but not unheard of depending on the PS. Assuming one of them is kept that means likely that one of McCarron or Crossen/Jackson is gone. I don't think they would cut anyone else on this list at this point.

If they were going to cut Jason McCourty they would have done it much earlier as a courtesy.

There is the possibility of last minute add ons from other cuts but i can't possibly predict all of that.
