So it appears Vince has made quite the recovery. I have to say, as someone who doubted it would be possible, it is quite impressive. He must've really put in work to rehab so quickly.

Thanks for the updates, @Deus Irae. Making it easy for the rest of us to follow along.

My pleasure. Also, just a reminder to people:

There's a thread with a list of a bunch of twitter sources. It's stickied in the main forum.

On that subject:

Vince Wilfork talks about how he shed weight entering training camp, as he wanted to lighten the load in coming back from Achilles injury.

Word up was that fierce Bianca would place herself between Vince and a plate of ribs and he'd have to get through or around her for supper. He slimmed down after missing a few meals.

Did you feel comfortable with them when those 2 were getting shredded in the AFCCG after Talib went down?

In that game:

- Dennard had a shoulder injury that apparently required surgery.
- They didn't have Browner available on the other side
- They had their choice of three rookies to play at DT (so little to no interior pressure)
- They were missing their defensive captain in Mayo
- They were playing the single highest scoring offense of all time
- They gave up 26 points (granted with a lop-sided time of possession)

Yes, I'd be comfortable with Dennard, assuming there aren't major subtractions to the other areas. That said, of course we want to keep Revis, but using that particular AFFCG as evidence of what this defense should look like without him is trying to claim you have a royal flush by only showing you have the Ace of Hearts.

"I saw a legitimate starting quarterback backing up Tom Brady"

- Mike Mayock

Mayock obviously liked what he saw of Mallett today.

A bunch of the Pats beat guys just basically shat all over this opinion.

As JMC noted, Pats beat guys are not agreeing. I'm reading that Mallett was inconsistent again and was intercepted multiple times.

That's probably because they have seen more of him than just one scrimmage. Its hard to form a decision on a guy based on that. I think Mayock is being purposely reactionary.

We heard a lot about how awesome the Patriots offense looked with the Eagles combined practice last year. I will wait until they prove it on the field.

And your point being? The New England Patriots finished 3rd in the NFL in scoring in 2013 with 444 points behind only Denver (606 points) and the Chicago Bears (445 points). http://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2013/

The issue in 2014 was not the offense. It was the defense, and mostly because of injuries.

Well it's still a wrong reaction based on what Mike Giardi has said with other beat guys agreeing with him by retweeting it.

Just laughed at report that Mallett "popped" today. He was schizo at best. Picked a couple times. Multiple INCs in 11 on 11

I hear what you're saying. I just wanted to get his comment out there, because I know that some people like Mayock's takes.

I'm thinking the #6 overall pick in the 2015 draft isn't enough at this point; we should easily expect no less than an RGIII type of compensation package for Mallett now.

Jeff Howe on the other hand is saying its his best camp. I think a pick in and of itself isn't a big deal in training camp, plus picks aren't always on the QB. Again, I am not saying Mayock is more right just that either opinion isn't all that meaningful. Remember how everyone thought Cassel look horrible in 2008 camp?

Maybe Mayock was just jacked up about

Mallett threw an absolute dime deep down the right sideline to Boyce, between the safety and corner. His best throw of the summer.

I seem to remember Mayock pulling for Mallett in the draft. Could it be a little of " See, I told you so"?
