@MikeReiss: Undrafted rookie Brandon King quickly becoming an impact core special teamer for Patriots. Since promotion last week, team-high 4 ST tackles

@MikeReiss: Brandon King (6-2, 220) played in college at Auburn. At Auburn Pro Day, had 38-inch vertical, 10-6 broad jump, 19 reps on bench, 4.4 in 40.

Anyone else notice #36 flying down the field the last two weeks? With news that Slater's injury could be serious atleast we may have a replacement.

Who is reporting on the severity of Slater's injury?

Although Slater's kick coverage skills are excellent, it is the experience, communication and leadership that he brings that will be missed the most. Snapfu was a perfect example, Slater was decisive directing everyone to get into proper position.

King did jump out off the screen over the past couple weeks, kid has a ton of athleticism. If Slater's injury is as severe as it looked, we may be needing him to keep it up as a gunner. Agreed with @Galeb, though, that that only begins to cover what Slater brings to the table. He's the ST captain in every sense of the word.

Yep. Also noticed him taking a penalty last week and another one this week.
Let's let the kid have more than 2 weeks in uniform before we go annointing him the next great special teams player..

Nothing official has come out. What we do know is this:
1) Had to be helped off the field
2) Though he was standing without help on the sidelines, it was clear all his weight was on his left leg.
3) Had to be taken by cart to the X-ray room
4) One the better NE Beat reporters is reporting the injury to be serious, though no specifics.

What will be interesting to find out is whether or not he stayed behind in Indy to get the MRI or if he flew home..

I'm still pissed at Slater or coaching staff. Whoever let him play special teams after he clearly hurt himself in a previous punt coverage. F*ck you!

Though it would be unfortunate for the injury to be serious STs is one of the deepest parts of the roster on the Patriots.

Ebner is an often forgotten man but one heck of a gunner. King has jumped off the screen as others have said. Wilson will probably be activated more and tends to be one of the top STers when he is.

BB has amassed a lot of top tier STs players over the years by using draft capital. Slater's leadership will be missed if it is a serious injury but i think STs talent is one of our deepest spots.

Without slater I think the coaches are forced to call the time oUt for the punt fail.

Ebner is not a gunner.. Ebner is the personal protector in the punt formation..
