Crennell has their defense playing well. Weiss has their offense becoming efficient.

Why can't the pats get coordinators?

The combined record of the teams they have beat is 1-8.

chargers 1-2

Browns 0-3

49'ers 0-3

No offense, Matt Cassel is NO Tom Brady.

having said that, I like the way they drafted, I like the coordinators, and you gotta love Vrabel.

Lets go back to the beginning of the season, they are more like the new 49ers. The popular sleeper pick, until they lose a few games.

Re: The new pats. The KC Chiefs

Its funny how Peter King in MMQB was gushing over the the 4 or 5 KC rookies being heavily involved in the game and helping secure the win. Could have sworn I saw the same thing during the 1:00 game I was at..

Re: The new pats. The KC Chiefs

Is the merge button malfunctioning or is the PS forum full up or are we gonna just have a proliferation of these threads for the forseeable future? There are valid reasons where all sides are concerned why Charlie and RAC didn't come back here and did go to KC to kickstart a rebuild... Pioli and Belichick both did a nice job drafting this season. Probably had a lot to do with the depth of the last uncapped draft. Pioli was here thru the 2008 draft too. RAC and Charlie were elsewhere failing in those years....

ones that only the people involed in the decisions will ever know.

This year's Chiefs are the same as last year's Broncos. Fast start before stumbling to 8-8 and nowhere near the playoffs.

More chance to get credit and another HC job if they succeed under a coach who isn't BB.

Perhaps Robert Kraft also pinched pennies a bit too much.

Re: The new Pats. The KC Chiefs

If KC is Patriots Midwest, then the Bears are Rams North.

Both teams are 3-0 with much of the same staff that provided success about 10 years ago.

KC has the advantage of a much weaker schedule than Denver in 2009.

5 AFC West
3 NFL West
Buffalo
4 AFC South

That weakness could be beneficial.

Also, Weis was never coming back here. Why would he? All that would prove is he needs BB. KC is his redemption slot to turn into an NFL HC job.

Re: The new Pats. The KC Chiefs

The Chiefs really should be winning games, I mean, they've picked in the top 5 for how many years straight now?

Even Albert was a top 15 pick

I have to admit watching that trick play they ran had me dreaming of the old days. Ask anyone on the draft board, McCluster was my guy from day one.

Re: The new pats. The KC Chiefs

We are?????

Yes, we are (by "we" I mean the Patriots, of course).

Just to remind everyone here of just how good this franchise has been, let's go back to 2001:

2001 - 11-5, 1st in AFCE, win SB
2002 - 9-7, tie for 1st in AFCE, miss playoffs on tiebreaker
2003 - 14-2, 1st in AFCE, win SB
2004 - 14-2, 1st in AFCE, win SB
2005 - 10-6, 1st in AFCE, lose in Divisional round
2006 - 12-4, 1st in AFCE, lose in AFCCG in last minute
2007 - 16-0, 1st in AFCE, lose in SB in last minute
2008 - 11-5, tie for 1st in AFCE, miss playoffs on tiebreaker (Brady out all year)
2009 - 10-6, 1st in AFCE, lose in Divisional round

So pretty much, yeah, we win all the time. Ever since Brady became the QB, this team has finished in 1st in the division (twice missing the playoffs on tiebreakers, though once was when Brady was hurt and Cassel was QB). 3 SB titles, 4 trips to the SB, 5 trips to the AFCCG.

No team wins *EVERY* time out, forever. But this team's run the past decade is really as good as it can possibly get in the NFL.

For some, it is a reminder, for others, it is a lesson learned. You've got to remember that there are probably a lot of posters here who have only been following the Pats since after 2003-2004 at the earliest.

Nice recap, Ivan. Unfortunately, it won't save Belichick and Brady their jobs though. It's time to move on from this duo that just can't deliver quality football to the fans of New England.

Just as a novelty aside, someone else pointed out after last season that the last six Patriots seasons have ended in the six different possible ways: SB win (Sb39), SB loss (SB42), AFCCG loss (Colts), division playoff loss (Broncos), Wild Card loss (Ravens) and missed playoffs ('08).

Re: The new Pats. The KC Chiefs

I don't understand why so many people get so defensive.

Simply giving credit to someone who seems to be turning an organization around.

Another interesting factoid is that 5 of the first 6 picks made by the chiefs this year were team captains in college.

I understand some of want to endlessly choke the patriot chicken, but you should learn to loosen up a bit
