This guy must have flunked geography. Foxboro is with 1 1/2 hours from 3 neighboring states. All you have near NO is La. But without a baseball team in the area, the saints under good ownership could be as profitable as the pats.

As a native RI'er, our perception of distance is minimalized. In truth, NO is located at the northern part of the lower "L", which is not that far from Mississippi. Moreover, to the folks in that region, NO is not all that far from Mobile, AL and even the west FL panhandle. MS, AL, and FL's borders are very close together on the Gulf coast. So there's potential for that market to grow.

The NFL also wants to maintain a presence in the market since NO has been an excellent showcase for SBs in the past.

If New Orleans ever got a real owner, that was dedicated to building a strong front office and hiring the right coach, they would start wiining. Once they start winning, the fans will come out and the supoerdome will be a packed house once again.

The irony of all of this is that bungling Benson had Saban right there, practically sitting in his own backyard.

I'm curious, was there ever any talk of Saban being a candidate for the Saints HC job while still at LSU? I wonder if he would've been interested.
