Ah, from RI I see.
As a native RI'er, our perception of distance is minimalized. In truth, NO is located at the northern part of the lower "L", which is not that far from Mississippi. Moreover, to the folks in that region, NO is not all that far from Mobile, AL and even the west FL panhandle. MS, AL, and FL's borders are very close together on the Gulf coast. So there's potential for that market to grow.
The NFL also wants to maintain a presence in the market since NO has been an excellent showcase for SBs in the past.
