I loved to watch this kid play….amazing athleticism and field vision….not sure how they will utilize him …RB and slot?! Hope he makes it

Is Perry required to be on the roster for Game One?

How much money have the patriots guaranteed to him?

No, and nothing. The Patriots could release him any time prior to Tuesday at 4 to avoid paying his week 1 salary.

So, Perry is a free tryout, and a an opportunity to give a Navy player the thrill of a week on the patriots.

The bottom line is that he isn't a better prospect than Gunner. Also, Belichick will find much better uses for a roster spot in the coming two weeks.

I mean ideally you'd want more talent at WR. It's nice to have guys who can put a little fear into the opposition and keep them honest.

But it's hard to fill out a roster with tons of talent at every position. It's clear the Patriots have chosen to do things a little differently than most offenses at this point in time.

It has worked before. Who knows if it will work now, but it would be nice to go into the season with fewer question marks at the position.

With that said, the Patriots have one of the best overall rosters in football. It's extremely balanced and I think that can (not definitely will) make up for lackluster talent on the outside.

Q1) How like is it that Perry is on the 53 for Game 2?

Q2) Do you want Perry on the 53 for Game 2?

I honestly don't know. I think his returns will diminish over the course of the season because of his gimmicky play style. I don't know if we need that dynamic against the Jets, but I have no idea really.

I think he needs to prove he's more than a gimmick/special teams player before he becomes any kind of feature in the offense. But they must see some potential for that to pull the trigger on a trade so close to game day.

Edit: Actually I forgot he was a waiver claim. That actually changes my outlook quite a bit.

Sounds like he's gonna be our practice squad QB prior to games against rushing QB's or strong rushing offenses.

I thought they had traded a pick for him, I completely forgot that he was a waiver claim, so I it's more likely he'll be in this type of role than I thought.

trent and either JJ or Perry would look something like this, LOL ((Shaq and Simone Biles)

She looks like Bridget the Midget in that photo.

Bill must've hit the fuggging ceiling with this one...

Yep, Bill has Linda give him a long, slow hand job (to build the momentum) whenever he gets to coach another player he "likes"...

You seem very sure about Bill’s view of Perry and his plans for him. Is this anything more than your opinion because we once again learned this week that he don’t have a clue what Bill is thinking most of the time. How do you know that he isn’t a better prospect than Gunner?

On Dolphins reddit, it is split pretty evenly between concern that BB will turn him into a stud in the mold of Welker and “he is just trying to get intel about our playbook before the opener”. The latter is bullsh*t of course. That was the exact same thing that the salty Jets fans fans said after Bill claimed Woodhead and we know how that turned out.

Has 1 punt return for 12 yds

Have you ever seen him play? I watch almost no college football but I turned on the tv on afternoon a few years ago and Navy was playing, and he was lights out throughout the game. I realize that means little but he struck me as one of those guys who will find a way to contribute and turn himself into a good pro.

Yea just as QB. Hes shifty.

We found our backup QB. Honestly, I never was a big fan. Successful as a running QB vs weak competition. Ran a slow 4.63 forty. For someone so “explosive”, he’s kinda slow. Who knows, maybe he’s the new Edelman, quick instead of fast.
I see him more like a Bruschi, a small DL who didn’t test well, but whose instincts allowed him to play faster than those faster than him. Reading the field, taking your first step in the right direction, and making a play matters more in many sports than simple height, weight, speed data does, Where he can win a job and contribute remains to be seen, but I wouldn’t bet against him.
