Calvin Johnson is constantly doubled and sometimes tripled teamed, he doesn't have Brady throwing to him.
How could someone argue that Megatron isn't the best reciever in the league is ridiculous. And you're basing on stats, does that mean you also think Rodgers is better than Brady? Or is it a different story for QB's because Brady is a Patriot?

I love Wes, he's great at what he does, but not quite at the level of Calvin Johnson.

With that said, I don't think Gronk is the best TE in the league YET.

People here at Patsfans seem to overreact when a player has a good season.

In some poster opinions we have the best QB, the best WR, the best TE, the best #2 TE, the best OG, the best OG tandem, the best OT tandem, a top 10 RB, a top 3 linebacker, a top 3 CB(people last year said he was just behind Revis and Aso), a top 3 DL, a future top 5 DL again(AH), the best coach, the best drafter, the best OLine coach... ... ...
Now, I'm not saying most of these are false, they aren't but you can't forget how deep this league is, there some great players out there, and a ton of underated players.

    Great writeup. :rocker:

But you missed washing a spot on Gronk's left testicle.

Hes probably not the best TE in the league "yet" but you cant say fans are "overreacting because he had a good season"

if you look at this season as well so far, Gronkowski is having arguably an even better season and is almost unstoppable out there. the only thing that might cut into his stats is that the patriots have another dynamic TE in Aaron Hernandez...these guys IMO make up one of the best TE tandems in the league

its kind of funny to hear some posters on patsfans harp on Belichicks drafting when we nabbed 2 studs at TE which have changed the dynamic of the pats offense in 2010

    It's a reasonable case.

If Gronk is close to the best TE in the league as a receiver and also close to the best as a blocker (at least among the serious receivers), who then is better overall?

I agree with the OP, Gronk is the most complete TE in football. He is also one tough SOB and makes excellent pancakes. The amazing thing is that he is only 21!?!?! If he stays healthy, he will become a legend.

    You're joking, right?

Last season, Gronk was in the top 10 in receptions and yards for a TE. He also led all TE's with 10 TD's....as a rookie!

This season, he leads all TE's in receptions, yards, and TD's.

Did I mention he has done all this while being on the same team as Aaron Hernandez (who also shows up in the top ten in some a few categories)

If you don't want to call him the best, I'll listen, but to say he isn't an elite TE because he's only in his 2nd season is just ridiculous.

    I know, you're the best.

Welker is almost as good as you, not quite, but is still good enough to be the best WR in the league.

If Gronk hadn't hurt his back in his final year of college, where would he have been drafted? Top 10? That seemed to be the narrative at the time, and was why I liked the pick. He's certainly validated it with his performance since then.

I think Gronk and Hernandez are the best duo in the league by far and the best since the mid 90s when the Packers had Keith Jackson and Mark Chmura...those 2 guys were unstoppable.

Football Outsiders ranked them 2 and 5 overall among TEs last year, and 3 and 7 on a per-play basis alone solely for their receiving efforts.

My daughter just came to visit with a friend wearing a Plowboys hoodie. Asked him why he was wearing toilet paper.... LOL
He went on and on about Witten, and how he was gonna have this and that on Sunday. I asked him, "how effective was Dustin Keller last Sunday?" He averted his eyes and mumbled.
I then showed him some video clips of Gronk and Hernandez.
Then I passed him the kleenex.

I could be wrong, but is that the same PWP as from the Google message boards of the late 1990's?
If so, I'll take that compliment any day.
