The dysfunctional mess of “coaching” Mac Jones

whats your point? would you rather have Patricia never having coached offense try and teach a rookie QB?

maybe its McDaniels, maybe O'brien. but an actual OC and maybe keeping consistency each year is better. or is 3 OC's and a DC/special teams combo is a great plan to develop a rookie QB?

we used to make fun of the jets for stuff like this. constantly firing coaches/OC and now its the best way to develop a rookie!
My point's pretty clear. You asked it yourself. 'If we get Drake Maye would you be happy with' - obviously not, but what do you think they're going to give him?

hopefully a real OC and some consistency over their 1st 3 years.. hopefully solidify the OL and maybe draft some WR's.

you dont think McDaniels or O'brien is better than a DC who has no experience in calling an offense? or a coaching carousel?

O'Brien wasn't. We've got results on the field to prove that.

this is such a simplistic view to look at things. the offense being worse this year doesn't mean Patricia was some savant. or that all the stories of his incompetence are false. its not worth even arguing. but i could go into multiple factors why.

I will say we've never gotten any stories that O'brien was running an incompetent program like Patricia was.

Jones is the very definition of system QB. We saw what he did at Bama. No doubt he can do the same with a talented team in a system that suits him.

His ceiling is not high.

O'Brien didn't get to bring any of staff, had the OL coach being told to change methodology halfway through, came onto a team that just lost it's best WR and probably had the weakest OL the team has had ever.

Most of those decisions came down from Bill. I wasn't a fan of the hire, but he got a **** deal and presumably the team will actually make an effort to get offensive talent and allow him to coach the offense how he wants.

In hindsight, the Klemm hire seems baffling. Why would you hire a position coach who has a different coaching philosophy than the rest of the organization? You want your position coaches to compliment your overall strategy, not do something completely different. And Belichick should have found all this out before he hired Klemm.

It's almost as if Belichick didn't have a say in either case.

If Kraft seriously forced Belichick to take O’Brien, don’t you think Kraft would have forced Belichick to let O’Brien pick his own staff? You really think Kraft forced Belichick to take O’Brien and then forced both Belichick and O’Brien to take Klemm?

I think this Kraft meddled with the team narrative is going overboard.

Klemm is another FOB. BB was only hiring FOB's which is what ultimately got him fired. We'll find out more when his memoirs come out in 5 years or so.

Tee Higgins? A 2nd round tackle to help bolster the line with a solid Onwenu, Sow? A solid defense?

I think it's adorable you think Kraft is going to open up the pocketbook and pay a WR $20 million a year.

I doubt that very highly. But agree with the ceiling part.
