The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

UNC is showing some progress. He took on a program with MUCHOS PROBLEMAS.
It's somewhat unfair to crap on him for UNC being mediocre, of all things.
I mean not being particularly successful in his first season isn't a death nell. He'll obviously get more than one season, as well he should.

But let's not revise history here. UNC under Mac Brown was as a solid program. They've obviously never achieved any real sustained success, but he managed to 1. average about 8 wins per season and 2. recruit consistently better than they frankly ever have.

The team didn't have "MUCHOS PROBLEMAS." Brown was very well-liked and wasn't really given much of an opportunity for sustained success. If he were ten years younger, they would have kept him on and he would have likely continued to average 8 wins per season with outlier seasons in the playoff hunt.

UNC was not devoid of talent when Bill was hired. He revamped the roster to his preferences, and in doing so pushed out a lot of highly recruited, talented players.

As I said earlier in this thread, another coach may have hit the ground running. Or perhaps not. But the fact is that the roster as it is currently is populated by the players Bill chose, he isn't drawing from a bare cupboard left by the previous coach.

Mac Brown is an extremely good college coach, by the way. Let's not lose sight of that. He was successful at UNC by their standards.

Fair points, Eddard. I likely overstated the "MUCHOS PROBLEMAS." I just don't think he has totally crapped the bed at UNC, as others have suggested. I also agree he hasn't blown the doors off. I think next year will be a much fairer gauge of how he's doing.

Buddy, he's a great coach, but he's not perfect. He made some questionable decisions at the end of his tenure in New England. That doesn't negate anything, it happens to everyone.

Personally I'm hoping that the MVP is the guy Belichick said was the worst pocket passer of the top 6 QB's in the 24'draft. And we all know how much Bill loves pocket passers. Brady, O'Connell, Cassell, Mallet, Garrapolo (266 rushing yards in 11 seasons), Jones. Not 1 mobile QB in the entire bunch. So it's more than safe to say that Maye was Belichick's 6th favorite quarterback in that class.

This post in no way reflects any bias on the part of the poster. He is not one of the boards pre-eminent Bill haters. And he even has an IQ better than 180.

Just unbelivable

More evidence why he will never get another NFL job.

I love the logic that if you don't worship the ground my idol walks on or if you think he never does anything wrong then you're not a Patriots fan lmao

I wonder how many Bills fans felt that way about OJ Simpson.

My favorite part is how any criticism makes you a hater. Even something as simple as pointing out the strange, outsized influence Bunny has on the goings-on at Chapel Hill.

I love the logic that you think Bill and OJ is an apt comparison. But please continue telling us how much you're a BB fan.

Jordan has zero influence she does busy work. Outsized lol. You probably think she's writing game plans or something. Jordan is the ultimate haters crutch and possibly the biggest red herring in patsfans.com history.

Are you her and BB's agent or something, because if you were then I can understand all of your ramblings. But if you aren't their agent, then pal you really ought to see someone about your fixations with her and BB, its not healthy man.

Just an agent for truth.

Every village has its idiots, and he's one of ours. Best thing to do is ignore him.

Absolutely correct. Using Belichick's long history of choosing pocket passers over more mobile quarterbacks is completely unfair to Belichick, and saying that Maye was likely Belichick's least favorite quarterback of the six, when he said Maye was the worse pocket passer of the top quarterbacks is also totally unfair to Belichick, since he was the one who said it. In fact, holding Belichick to account for anything he has said or done is also completely unfair to him, especially if you consider him the GOAT, and credit him for building the greatest dynasty in NFL history. If you don't have your tongue right beside Signbabybrady's, all the way up Belichick's ass, then you are by definition a Belichick hater.

I don't know ... she's single-handedly impacted his reputation in a not-so-positive way. Still, as I said before, I think most people years from now will reflect back on what Bill did and appreciate him for his impact on this franchise. Right now, people are still in short-term mode and they're not there yet. But I'd definitely be willing to bet they'll get there. Vrabel would have to do a lot to challenge that and honestly, if he guides them to six titles over the next couple of decades, that's a debate I'm certainly fine to have unfold in a more meaningful way on here if that's indeed how it played out.

I don't intend on letting anyone get there if you hate him now I'll be reminding you for the rest of your life.

LOL, can't hate the guy who was part of a duo that gave us 20 years of incredible football. Again, not thrilled with his choices now, but like anything else, time changes everything and I'd like to think Jordan will just be an annoying footnote to an otherwise incredible career.
