It's not his job to make things easy for the media. .
The problem with this narrative is that it is blind to the reality that the modern NFL, and everyone who has a job in it, is part of a spiders web that make the whole football industry possible. Without the media, Bill doesn't have a job, because his job doesn't exist, and we never would have heard of him. The arrogance, the inaccuracy, the laziness, the narcissism that we sometimes see in the media doesn't change that fact. The interdependencies are structural, not circumstantial. Anyone working in football should be helping the media, and vice versa, just out of self interest.
