The 2014 Mock draft Thread.

Well
I am assuming that Cleveland will draft a QB and we can trade a 2015 late round pick for Brian Hoyer.

I would also sign Jeff Mathews as an UDFA.

We'll, if Cleveland's willing to draft a QB and have him work without a net that actually won games for them last year, I'm certainly game. I doubt they would though.

Herein lies an interesting Mallett trade scenario -- trade Mallett and a 5th for Hoyer and a second. I'd feel terrible for Hoyer though.

1. Ryan Shazier OLB
2. Weston Richburg C
3. Christian Jones ILB
4. Justin Ellis DT
4A.Richard Rodgers TE
6. Jonathan Dowling CB
6A. Jeff Janis WR
7. Zack Kerr DT

I like Easley at 62 but I think Richburg may be the better right away player. Kind of being stingy in the TE department but I think Rodgers could be a pretty good 2nd TE option without having to use an early pick. There are still some veteran TEs still out there that can be signed in the offseason that could be serviceable.

Mel Kiper Jr's Mock Draft 4.0

29) Ra'Shede Hageman
The Patriots know their personnel and developmental plans better than I do, I have no doubts, but we both know the age of their best interior linemen is a concern, with Vince Wilfork 32 years old and Tommy Kelly 33. Hageman is the kind of player this coaching staff could turn into something special, and working in rotation this season he could provide some immediate impact as well. He has surprising athletic ability for a player of his size, with great initial quickness which can jolt blockers and disrupt plays from the inside. He also has a long frame and an impressive vertical and will disrupt passing lanes.
62) Carlos Hyde
New England isn't devoid of explosiveness at running back, and it's never really considered a "need" position in the draft, but getting the best one in the entire draft at the end of Round 2 isn't much of a stretch, just as it wasn't last year when Giovani Bernard and Eddie Lacy were among the good values. If either of the two tight ends taken earlier is available here, I can see it.

Keep in mind this is not my mock draft just sharing

Whilst I can see people debating the first pick here, I could get very comfortable with this mock from James Christensen at NE Patriots Draft (via Bleacher Report).

Rnd 1 Teddy Bridgewater, QB
Rnd 2. Dominique Easley (looks like after a trade up, giving up a 4th).
Rnd 3. CJ Fiedorowicz
Rnd 4. Christian Kirksey
Rnd 6. Marion Grice
Rnd 6. Wade Keliikipi
Rnd 7. Trey Burton

Taking a first round QB can be debated to death, but I still think Bridgewater is the best QB in the class so I think the value is absolutely fine. Fiedorowicz and Grice are two of the players I think we're most likely to draft and Easley kills two birds with one stone by providing interior pressure and giving some breathers to Jones/Ninkovich on the edge. Kirksey is being woefully disregarded hereabouts as a coverage linebacker possibility (including by me..but not OTG) and I like the Burton upside a lot.

I like this mock the more I consider it.

Absolutely love that Move!!

It's a great move if what the Pats are planning is to trade out of the first round and into future rounds.

Other than that, I can't envision a scenario where the Patriots draft a QB in the first round, or one where any QB drafted/signed as an UDFA this year becomes the full-time starter. It's just a little too soon.

I think Demarcus Lawrence is certainly a possibility at 29 for the Pats. It might be a bit of a shock because he is under the radar but I can definitely see it happening. Love the Richburg and Fiedorowicz picks and would love Easley, I'm just not sure if the Pats would take him. Really good mock.

Scores from those Clowns are about as meaningful and signficant as Wonderlic Scores.

And in some countries, it's traditional to capitalize the beginnings of Sentences ~ among Adults. ;)
