The '13 AFC title loss to the Ravens

I've kinda noticed this trend in the last day or so where people are posting things, wanting to revisit our playoff losses over the last few years, and the one "positive" was the AFCCG on the way to the SB that will not be named.
We are 16-3 at home in the playoffs and the 3 get talked about 100 times more than the 16.

Goes to show you that homefield doesn't guarantee anything, this team has to be ready to go or that's it.

This was also the game where there was an extremely large contingent of Baltimore Ravens fans at Gillette. By the end, when many Pats fans left, it was like a Ravens home game. It was embarrassing.

I was pretty ticked off at the Pats season ticket holders that night. Yeah, it was cold, but it was the AFC championship game, for gods sake!

Just ask Dallas and Kansas City...

The end of the half fiasco was a foreshadowing of things to come.

How about this game instead?

I was at the game, lots of season ticket holders sat it out. Annoying as all hell

I remember Ridley practically having his noggin crushed live on television. That was hideous.
That was his Vernon Davis moment, he was never the same.

The Ravens just was hot at the right time. No shame losing that game. Sometimes the better team don't win.

Talib went out early, the Ravens didn't really take advantage of that for the rest of the half, then someone must have said something during halftime like, "Hey, Talib is OUT! Let's start picking on the softer coverage!" and Flacco picked them apart in the 2nd half. The Welker drop and Ridley fumble only compounded things.

If you're looking for parallels to this year's home AFCCG, I guess you should pray that Butler doesn't get hurt as I suspect the Pats will adjust coverage, but be overall softer in the secondary.

Regards,
Chris

The song remains the same. If you have a strong front 7 that can both stuff the run and hit Brady then you can beat the pats otherwise not.

thinking about it...

we played like that AFCCG this past week, so hopefully we got the stinker out for the playoffs

anyone remember us having two bad playoff games in one season? (prob not because teams are too good to overcome 1, but worthy question i think)

Talib took his annual early postseason vacation and Welker did what he always did, dropped passes in big games.

I don't miss either of them.

There is nothing new to suggest that Pitt would "change" things up this time. Best example is hearing, "Well just move Harrison inside and have him rush inside". It ain't that easy. Have the corners play man. It isn't that easy.

You're watching/listening to waaaaaaay too much Boston radio.
As per @lillloyd its not the same zone blitz pittsburgh defense which was there under lebeau. Butler plays a lot of nickel and more pass rush via the Dline. Also Pitts did change up in 2011 I think when they played exclusively man to man. Pats lost that game and score wasnt as close as it looked.

That was 6 years ago. No bearing today. I'm sure the Pats have an answer for whatever they try to do. Hell, KC had a metric ton of missed opportunities in the passing game.
