Think about it. Say the Pats were drafting 27th and the best player available by far was a CB. This player had a real chance to be a consistent first team Pro Bowl CB (but not consistent All Pro caliber) and the rest of the players available are far less likely. If the Pats drafted him, you would be pissed. Even though he was the best player available by a lot, it isn't a position of need. You guys are falling in love with the player without taking this team's need into account.

Again, if they are taking Hunter for a WR and sometimes CB, it is different. But the Pats do not need two elite CBs. In fact, it is a waste.

I would draft the CB. I'd rather have a pro bowl CB in the draft vs drafting the next Evan Neal.

He is beyond awful. Belichick was right to implore Kraft to move on, but Kraft is a fanboy of QBs; if he wasn't so old I imagine he would be perfect for the lead role of cheerleader in that movie about the girl who falls in love with the QB which will be playing on Freebee in 3 weeks, right after they finish filming.

Anyone who watched Mac yesterday got treated to a panicking QB who threw balls up for grabs and who drove balls into the ground from 5 yards away. He said that he has learned a ton from Pederson, an offensive coach, and yet he's playing worse than ever.

This is the right approach. Jared Goff’s career appeared to be over, then he was sent to Detroit and Brad Holmes built a great offensive line in front of him, then added the weapons. Now Goff’s career is back on track, and the Lions are the best team in the NFC.

I don't study the draft, but I know enough that the league is littered with guys who were labeled can't miss prospects or even generational talents who were major disappointments or outright busts. I also know there are plenty of examples HOFers that no one thought would even make in the league who were drafted in the 5th, 6th, or even 7th round. The draft is a crapshoot from the first pick to Mr. Irrelevant. I wouldn't be shocked if Hunter ends up being a complete bust.

That is part of the reason why I would want the Pats to trade down. Increase their odds of getting impact players they need at key positions. Two shutdown corners sound like a great idea, but not when the Pats have maybe 4-5 players who could make most teams starting line up. And that may be generous. Seriously other than Maye, Gonzalez, Barmore, and Henry, who else could make most teams' starting line up? Dugger if he ever reverts back to what he was before this year. That is about it.

Nice post but you lost me at drafting Campbell at # 3 overall. Drafting a guard at number 3 overall who isn't named John Hannah is idiocy at its finest. It's unfathomable. If you think T-Mac has bust potential, you trade down. Period. You don't draft some failing tackle/fat guard who struggled against South Carolina at 3 overall.
