Tee Higgins tagged (was “Another one bites the dust” - Update: Re-signed with Bengals)

Full props to Joe Burrow. He loudly called out Bengals owner Mike Brown from every platform he could find in a successful effort to force his cheap ass to sign his boys. It may well end up a case of 'be careful what you wish for lest you get it' as far as the rest of the roster goes but it's no small thing to pry Mike Brown's wallet open. How it all plays out may not end up being to Burrow's liking but he accomplished what he set out to do. I'm not the only one surprised by the signings

It's clear they were going to keep them. Burrow would have been very difficult to deal with if he didn't get his way. To your point, he should be careful what he wishes for.

Until Higgins actually agreed to a new deal it wasn't all that clear, the negotiations had at least two pathways to go south. That they didn't is somewhat surprising. That said, Burrow is a fool if he thinks Brown is suddenly going to pony up cash everywhere else.

It seems like people have forgotten that Philly just won a Super Bowl with a lot of money tied up in Hurts, Smith, and Brown.

Let's keep in mind, Mike Brown is no Jeff Lurie. Lurie doesn't just have much deeper pockets, he's shown he's consistently willing to reach into them.

You dont need defense when you have all the weapons. Come guys...this guy knew that and look how it turned out for him in the NFL.

Really bad idea when players especially younger ones get this kind of power. I remember when young Brady was asked about guys like lawyer milloy and ty law leaving since they were among his best friends and he said something like if it were up to him theyd all still be here but he understood theres a reason other people make the decisions.
Yeah, not great. Burrow will put up good stats, to some extent, but probably still keep getting hurt because they can't afford a good OL, and will be constantly in the crosshairs because they're playing from behind due to having a terrible defense.

It's funny because everyone is lauding that they kept these guys, but they had all three of them in 2024 and didn't even make the playoffs. Now they're paying exponentially more money just to have the same three guys. How's that going to help?

A case of drafting well.

Right, i hope we are wrong because cincy was one of the afc contenders i didnt mind and was capable of beating kc, but i cant help but think theyre screwed. Hubbard is gone, bj hill is getting older, and they might be trading hendrickson so they are already declining heavy from an already bad defense. And these signings will basically make it impossible to improve it much unless they nail the next couple drafts on defense.

It is ridiculous to pay your #2 WR top of the market #1 WR money when you are paying your #1 WR more money than most QBs in the league. The cap is crap, but only to an extent. If the cap was truly crap, we wouldn't have seen the Eagles lose 4-5 starters/impact players last week.

Unless the Bengals hit it in the draft, they are going to be a team that can score 35 points a game and give up 37 points a game.

Personally, I think they should have traded Higgins. He was such a high value asset that they could have gotten enough draft capital to draft a solid #2 WR and possibly get a couple starters/impact players on defense or the o-line. Plus they could easily re-sign Trey Hendrickson and maybe another impact defensive free agent or two.

Have you been following the Eagles' offseason? The Pats benefitted from them paying Hurts, Smith, and Brown so much because they couldn't afford to re-sign Milton Williams. They also lost Josh Sweat, Mekhi Becton, Oren Burke, and Isaiah Rodgers and traded away C.J. Gardner-Johnson. They gutted their defense and lost their starting RG this offseason.

They also had really good players on defense. The Bengals defense this past season would’ve struggled being competitive against a Division II college team. I doubt they will be able to improve it now.

Slight difference between the defensive talent.

So the Bengals are going to do it the Colts Fashion way: try to outscore people to win. Let's see how long that lasts: Did I say the Bengals Defense is going to suck?? History have taught them nothing.
They nearly won a Super Bowl with this team. What have we done lately? Put an unwatchable product on the field especially on offense with ZERO playmakers

Bengals defense in 2025:

You could say the same about the patriots offense

Not surprised Higgins stayed. Burrow was practically begging for it in every interview, they weren't going to upset the QB

Smart. They are keeping their franchise QB happy and motivated by surrounding him with elite weapons. Wish we did that with our franchise QB.

Patriots are dumpster diving for playmakers which will only hold Maye back from success

Mother Fs
I hope we destroy them next season, a 50 burguer, Polk will have 5 TDs and 250 yards.

They beat the chiefs in the afc championship and nearly won the superbowl with these guys. A heck of a lot better than what the patriots have done the past 5 years

People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones

Well I guess that takes care of all the whining in here about Cincy but acting in good faith with Higgins and not really trying to re-sign him….
