Tebow working on zone-read plays in practice (EDIT: and "catching passes" too)

"can't muster consistency with mechanics" = some throws are good, perhaps even really good, other throws are bad, perhaps even really bad.

In any pro sport the difference between great and terrible is often very small. Maybe not at the college level but definitely at the pro level.

Saying a QB is inconsistent is not a compliment. If you're calling a pro QB inconsistent you might as well call him lousy because they're the same thing.

I was at the Ale House earlier. Just so we get a clear picture of the tweets from today. I think I got all of them related to Tim, but perhaps not...

PatriotsXLVIII ?@PatriotsXLVIII 5h
Here's the mandatory Tim-Tebow-first-player-out-for-practice Tweet. Playing catch with Danny Amendola.

PatriotsXLVIII ?@PatriotsXLVIII 4h
This is not a joke. Tebow is lined up at punt protector right now. Kill me now.

PatriotsXLVIII ?@PatriotsXLVIII 4h
Tebow with back to back long TD passes to Slater and Sudfeld. Not gonna lie, his ball looks decent. Sudfeld smooth as hell

PatriotsXLVIII ?@PatriotsXLVIII 4h
QB drills. This is the best situation ever for Tebow. Brady and Mallett push the hell out of him. He does everything they do

PatriotsXLVIII ?@PatriotsXLVIII 4h
Tebow with perfect 45 yd strike to Quinton Sims. Meh.

PatriotsXLVIII ?@PatriotsXLVIII 3h
Tebow spoiled as hell right now. Hitting Amendola and Boyce on back to back beautiful plays. Good luck covering Boyce.

PatriotsXLVIII ?@PatriotsXLVIII 3h
Tebow time. Perfect strike to Ford. Ford drops it. Next play, Tebow sacked by Hightower like it was 2008 at the Georgia Dome.

PatriotsXLVIII ?@PatriotsXLVIII 3h
Fans cheering on Tebow right now as punt protector. Kinda funny.

PatriotsXLVIII ?@PatriotsXLVIII 2h
Mallett with the pass of the day to Jenkins. 35 yards down right sideline splitting 2 DBs. Tebow tried same play. Hilarity ensued

PatriotsXLVIII ?@PatriotsXLVIII 2h
Chandler Jones and Connolly go to the fans. And here comes Tebow. Great stuff.

What's the point? None, really. Belicheck010405 just irritated me cherry picking a bad Tebow play tweet or two and I couldn't respond with my Iphone from the Ale House.

Tebow is not a great quarterback. Not even close. His fans know that. We are just happy he has a chance to play with the best QB in the history of the game and maybe learn enough to be able to stay in the NFL and apply it when he comes back to Florida to coach. He will definitely be a badass recruiter for UF haha.

I understand all you haters, Belicheck010405, and that's cool. But come Jan, 2014 when the Pats are trying to get ready for Seattle, San Fran or Washington... there is not going to be a better third string QB in the league to get Wilfork, Collins, Spikes and Dennard ready for the big game than Tim Tebow.

Hell, maybe they will make him room with Gronkowski and Dennard that week just to make sure nothing stupid happens...

It's stuff likes this that qualifies certain people as a flat out biased haters .

Pretty weak cherry picking one bad play . Thanks for posting the tweets

Congrats - you are ignored as well. I almost forgot about you too. If there are any other Tebow lemmings out there, let me know so that you can be placed on ignore.

Stop with the "if" BS. There's no "if". Wins and losses are not, never were, and never will be a QB stat. They are a team stat. Period.

Yes. But when you hear people compare some of the great QB's that have played it is interesting that you'll hear a lot more talk about how many rings they have than their so called "win-loss record".

W-L for QBs means nothing to me or anyone else other than a very tiny minority of uninformed football fans.

Tebow did not "win 9 games". Fact. Tebow did not beat the Steelers. Fact. The Broncos did. Fact again.

Nope, the team has also won 10 or more games even before that to get to the playoffs. The point is a championship is a waaaaaay bigger body of work than just one individual game.

I do not recall saying Brady needs one more ring to move up a slot on the GOAT list. If he does get another ring, and we're talking about GOAT, I think it does say something in his favor that he would have 4 SB rings on his fingers and other than Belichick he was the one constant when the team around him has almost completely turned over their roster over his career. But you will never hear an informed football fan say "he won those SB games". His team did, and he was a key part of that team.

When informed football fans say a QB like Tebow "is a winner" they are talking about his positive intangibles, his positive attitude and the positive qualities he brings to the table as a leader. They are not talking about a meaningless W-L record that only the most ignorant or biased football fans would use as a barometer of how good a QB is.

Now...enough of the "QB's win" BS. Thanks.

Hey SB - good to talk to you offline. Do yourself a favor - put the Tebow lemmings on ignore. The board will be noticeably different....

Hi.

Bizarre how much attention someone who will not be on the roster next month gets.
Why on earth would BB employ a QB who can't connect with his receivers. Expecting BB to devote a precious roster spot to inadequate passer is beyond comprehension. Do you think a higher power has overtaken BB's sanity and common sense. From all that gets written here.....it appears so.

That works. Or you could just not click on the Tebow threads? But you can't resist talking about him. Despite the fact that Tebow is wearing a Pats uniform, it appears you have an uncontrollable compulsion to disparage him. Obviously it's really got a hold on you. I hope you can get some counseling for this. For your sake, you better hope Tebow plays poorly when he's asked to contribute this season. You won't know which team to cheer for.

I have placed Demos and Christiancat on ignore. They are reporting people when they are unhappy because their argument has lost. I just got my first report last night.

Yet again playing fast and loose with the truth, but that's your usual MO.

I've never reported one of your posts. What I have done is reply to them and made you look like an idiot in the process.

Consistency with mechanics is something that comes over time with more reps. IF I was looking at someone to be the QB this year, I'd be concerned. IF I was talking about a 3rd string QB who I wanted to DEVELOP, it would be a different story.

I think part of the problem is that many of you look at Tebow and evaluate him as if he was a 6 year starter with 50+ starts under his belt. You forget that he was seen as a 2-3 year project by Josh to begin with, and that he basically lost 1 1/2 years of "development time" when he started for the Broncos and then went to the Jets.

Many "experts/pundits" have made the same point. That Tebow hasn't really had a chance to just sit back and DEVELOP the way guys like Mallet or Matt Flynn did. That's why they say that NE is the perfect place for him. Here, he'll get the time and the reps to work on becoming consistent with his mechanics. He'll have the opportunity to learn how to read defenses.

I'm sorry but you Tebow fans really annoy me with your smart, intelligent and most importantly, reasonable posts. Unless you're going to be dumb, intolerant, insulting, offensive and unable to engage in sensible debate like us Tebow-phobes, then I'm just going to put you on ignore.

You lost the plot of the discussion. You went on and on about wins/losses not being a QB stat. I brought up the point that even here on this forum, knowledgeable posters do look at Wins/losses wrt QBs. I used the example of people saying that Brady would definitely be GOAT IF HE wins 1 more ring.

You didn't jump up and down at that. Rather, you tried to make the case that Championships were different. That for whatever reason, you COULD judge a QB by Championships, but that's different than Wins/Losses.

I've pointed out that a Championship is a title given for a WIN in a football game.

If you want to remain logically consistent, you'd have to say that Championships are a team stat as well, not a QB stat. And that Championships/rings don't matter when looking at individuals. Ergo, the Pats winning 1 more Championship with Brady at QB shouldn't move him up the GOAT list.

But you don't want to take that position. To you, Championships apparently are both a "team stat" AND a "QB stat".

In short, your positions are contradictory.

Hi Manx - I just posted on my first blog about that very topic. Hope that you enjoy it.

You'll have to point me in the right direction - have no idea where the blogs are. I'm happy to read anyone's viewpoint.

Gotta run. Have a great day!

Its the same BS that he posted somewhere in the forum about Tebow's time with with the Broncos.

Seems that Tebow is the first QB in history to take a team to the playoffs with an 8-8 record. Of course, he doesn't mention that the Broncos were already 1-4 when Tebow took over as the starter. Nope. Just stuck with that 8-8 to make the numbers look worse.

Tebow's got a long way to go - you don't have to cherry pick to mention his screw-ups or bad throws out there - but he also flashes some pretty impressive throws. He really does.

I hope he gives the Pats a reason to keep him and develop him - and by that, I mean, I hope he fills enough other roles than QB for him to be worth the 53 spot. I don't want a 3rd QB, honestly - if Brady goes down and Mallett can't do it, well, the season's lost anyway.

But if that 3rd string guy can contribute in other ways, then it's very nice to have a young guy with potential in development for free. Heck, Tebow, learn to long snap! I don't care...if you've got to give a spot to a long-snapper (yikes), then having it be someone you can call on to spell an emergency here or there AND someone young who may actually develop into something good seems like a smart move to me!

Like many New Englanders, I don't like proselytizing - at all. But I respect character and Tebow walks the walk. I hope he gives them a reason to keep him.

It seems that reading comprehension is not one of your strong suits.

That's ok. You are entitled to believe that wins are a QB stat if you wish. Just like I'm entitled to say that is the ignorant viewpoint. Which it is....
