Chiefs waived TE Tony Moeaki with an injury settlement.

Moeaki fractured his shoulder in late-August and was waived/injured by the Chiefs. He reverted to injured reserve and has now been cut loose. Moeaki is expected to be healthy by Week 11 and can sign with any team as long as he clears waivers.

Could he be worse than Mulligan?

Moeaki, just 26, has a chance to continue his career if he can get healthy. Bandied about as a possible trade target for the New England Patriots this offseason, he'll need to pass through waivers before landing on the Chiefs' injured reserve list or, more likely, reaching an injury settlement and becoming a free agent.

If he can be healthy by Week 11, then bring him on in.

I hope BB has already made the phone call.

He used to be a promising looking player.

Do we really need another ANOTHER guy with a serious injury in his career....????

If he can every get healthy, he's an instant upgrade. Definitely want, even realizing that the last thing this offense needs is another injury-prone guy.

He reached an injury settlement today. He's now in the waivers process.

If he's any good I doubt he'll fall to the Pats. Plus, he's making more $1.3M this year. something tells me the Pats would rather go with Mulligan for peanuts.

That's assuming that they pull him off waivers and even if they did it wouldn't cost them all 1.32 million. Closer to $742k for the rest of the season if they pick him up.

Mulligan costs us $402k the rest of the season. Is Moeaki worth $340k more?

IIRC, the injury settlement wipes his old contract off the books, so (A) he doesn't go through waivers now, and (B) he can sign any contract with any team.

He's like the Danny Amendola of tight ends.

The Pats have used up their allotment of vowels at the TE position.....Hoomanawanui stays.....Moeaki is out

Nah he's worse...He's the Glass IR Dowling of tight ends. Critics say Gronk is injury prone? please....This guy is injury prone.

in principle. He's worth a gamble. In practice we've taken lots of gambles on injury prone players.

Dowling was my first thought, but I think Amendola is a more apt comparison. Reason is Dowling barely showed anything, other than the potential of being a starting cornerback, while Amendola and Moeaki have both flashed great to elite potential...if they could ever stay on the field.

I can't believe that anyone wouldn't take a chance on a very talented guy who's had two 15 game seasons with good numbers over a very low end JAG (Mulligan).

What's the downside? Mulligan gets scooped up?

If Moeaki gets hurt with us in the last 7 games and/or the playoffs, I have a feeling that Mulligan will be right where we left him.
