Taylor Heinicke to Pats?

So is every backup qb that has a good game going to get his own thread about going to Patriots?
Do you know something the rest of us don't? Who is going to play QB next season?

As well as Uche and Duggar who both look to be (at the very least) rotational players.

LOL. The Stiddy fan club’s dedication to their man is admirable. Too bad it can’t help him become anything more than he is, a guy who isn’t good enough to take the job of another QB who can’t throw a football.
And I bet you were saying that Heinicke would never making anything of himself during the 2017 Pats camp.

Deshaun Watson wants out. Caserio is the new GM.
Im guessing itll take 2 1st rounders- this years plus next years. We have the cap space to afford him.
If Caserio decides they need to trade him- and right now thats highly likely- we HAVE to go after him. Hes easily a top 5 qb in the league right now. You can make a strong case hes #3- behind Mahomes and Rodgers. Hes only 26.
As Reiss suggested, you go after Hunter Henry( if hes not franchised) and someone like Curtis Samuel, a good and speedy wr who would be affordable. Those 3 moves make Patriots SB contenders again- w/o even factoring in the draft, the 2nd year step-up from Dugger,Uche,Gunner,Meyers,Wino,
Onwenu,JJ Taylor et al.
If Watson becomes available, theres no excuse for not going after him HARD.

So let's just chat about this idea. Houston just signed him to a 4 yr / $156 million extension. If I am reading his contract correctly, he will cost $15,940,000 for 2021. That jumps to $40,400,000 in 2022. His dead cap is $67,140,000 for 2021, but the Texans would get hit with $21.6 million if they traded him. Do you really see Houston taking that hit? If we did get Watson, who would he play with in 2022? How could we afford him and field a winning team around him? I just don't get how that is possible. You could go all in for 2021, but that would destroy any chance of winning in the future with no supporting cast beyond this year.

Heinicke was actually really impressive. Good reads, nice touch on some passes dropped over linebackers. Great toughness.

One freaking start for Washington. Count it. 1. Did he have a gutsy game? Sure! Was he fun to watch? Yes! Was his QB rating 63.2? Yup! Was his completion percentage 59.1%? Yup. Is that somehow impressive? Cam's last game was a 70.8 QBR with a 70% completion %. You must think he is God compared to Heinicke.

Heinicke sucks, but Toilet Bowles' defense was even worse...Otherwise Brady would've won by 5 TDs.

No excuse except for his ridiculous contract. While his salary for 2021 is managable, the 35M for 22, 37M (Salary/Bonus) for 23, and 32 for the following 2 years aren't.

Watson is also behind Russel Wilson And some could even argue Brees and Brady.

None of the moves you mentioned will make the Patriots contenders again without addressing the DL. That was just a big of an issue as Cam.

He's been with the team before. His familiarity might buy him a chance to compete with Stidham for a backup job.

Scratch that. I forgot Miami also has the #3 pick. If they offer both the #3 and #18, Pats cant match it. So fuggettaboudit
Jets have #2 and Seattle pick 20 something
