That doesn't prove he doesn't fit the Vrabel system. That's you grasping at straws.
Lol...are you another one that does allow for others to have a different opinion than yours? I look at the players he brought in and it is obvious that Tavai was not a speedy/coverage back but a run stopper. You think he is an asset and will be around fine...I dont and we shall see.

That's good to know. Tavai is a solid player, he's been here, he has played at a high level before. He definitely helps the depth. Also i'm sure he knows competition is heavy under Vrabel.
Yep as others have posted it's tbd if he is a system fit but he's reasonably young, under contract, and had a decent 2024.

So your observations of how they played on game day was that Tavai was the better linebacker?

In what universe did what I state equate to Tavai being a better linebacker? I simply stated that YOUR reasoning wasn't supported by reality.

Tavai improved his game each year he was on the Pats. That's born out by the increased responsibility that he saw. Including being left on the field during some passing situations.

They had different responsibilities when they were on the field. If you can't understand that, then maybe you should work on that and stop trying to put words into people's mouths.

Everywhere. Google "tavai calf injury".

I sere you're still a butthurt chump who expects others to just take your word for it instead of offering a link.

You know I was going to write a big wordy response but its just not worth the effort. But I would like to know who was in your opinion (because that's what it is...your opinion) the better LB?

Why did Vrabel keep him around and seemingly have him in line for a starting role then?
Because at the time he’d have a $6.4M dead cap hit. Now it’s more manageable at $3.5M after June 1st. His injury couldn’t have come at a worse time.

In OTA practices it was mentioned that he and spillane were the starters lining up at ILB, so that's a good sign for him. Eliss, gibbens are next on the depth chart.

Will not blink an eye if he is cut, doesnt fit the Vrabel system.

Sometimes as a legendary 6x superbowl winning coach once said... you have to use the eye test with players.

I couldn't care less if your opinion was different. The issue is you pulling s**t out of your arse and thinking that makes it an opinion. You made a claim about Tavai's athleticism being worse than Bentley's yet the FACTS show that's not the case.

Tavai is an all-around LB. He's not a THUMPING LB like Bentley, but he makes run stops. Tavai's not an All-Pro Coverage LB, but he is decent enough to be out there on TEs and hold his own for the most part.

I actually stated back when Vrabel was made coach that I didn't know if EITHER Bentley or Tavai would make the team as "fits".
The Pats cutting Bentley with a failed Physical designation made it a moot point with Bentley.

Whether Tavai is an asset or not remains to be seen.

So, on top of going around putting words into people's mouths, you're lazy. Guess I shouldn't be surprised.

PS. I've learned over the years that my "opinion" doesn't mean jack when it comes to Coaching/Personnel Decisions. I look at the decisions made with the limited information we get and try and understand them to better my knowledge.

My decision to not get it in to some long winded back and forth with a person (who is clearly getting agitated) does not make me lazy. I'm ok with agreeing to disagree and moving on whether you are or not. If it make you feel better......you win.

Teddy Bruschi a 5th rounder, struggled a little too..early on when BB first took over... he then became an all time patiots great LB.. fact is.. you cannot ship every player off in one off season.. Vrabel could help his game.
If he sticks around I hope your right. I felt like I saw him get exploited too much last year in coverage.

All of our LBs got exploited in coverage.. spillane is an excellent coverage LB for example guy is relentless..

It is just a note to Google something. Ignore it if you want. Everyone is not attacking you.

Not that any of the LBs were strong in coverage but without digging up the nightmare of last year was Ellis our best coverage guy?
