Tank for Tua, sell the farm for Tua or No to Tua

I don’t care how good Lawrence is, this cannot be the face of the franchise for the next 15 years!

Lol. I'd take it if he gets us a SB though.

Lawrence will get a ton of hate for his looks. Hes literally been living w it since freshman year.

Supposedly is very religious. Wants to marry young & start a family. Idk could be worse if you ask me.

Pats fans would be the luckiest group on Earth if we landed him.

Sounds like Dwight Howard when he cane into the league

In the history of the NFL tanking and giving away half your draft for a single player has never, ever backfired.

I'm all in!
Just play the game the way it comes.Don't try to manage the process.

one of the very few that predicted that Patrick Mahomes was going to become what he has become.

Patrick Mahomes? The guy who was the 10th overall pick? Jeez, really going out on a limb there.

For what it's worth, the draft twitter consensus was adoration for Mahomes. Trubisky being the first QB selection was generally panned; most people preferred Mahomes.

Claiming you saw Mahomes coming is a little different than, I don't know, predicting Tom Brady or something.

No way. If we, for some reason were ever going to bet the farm on any one player, I would rather it be Trevor Lawrence. Much more complete arsenal and the ability to diagnose and understand what is coming at him.

And he's only a freshman.

I remember watching him on that Elite 11 series hosted by Trent Dilfer. My memory maybe fading, but I recall him tearing up the early rounds, only to get overtaken in the later rounds as game situations got more real. Not an indictment per se, but just a reminder that nobody may be worth betting the farm on.

Regards,
Chris

Can NE ever really tank when in the same division as the JESTs and the Jills?

Brady: "I kept targeting their DBs but they kept dropping the ball"

BB: "We left the 2 gap open all afternoon but their RBs kept running into their QB's butt"

Bobby K: "I had Roger confiscate more of our draft picks but our UDFAs dominate in our division, even the players Bill found at the Lohan Addiction Clinic"

Gronk: "Tide Pods are delicious"

He plays in the SEC, the closes to NFL defenses in college football as far as speed and talent. Throws WRs open better than majority of NFL QBs.

The team possessing the #1 in 2020 will be picking Tua and not trading that pick away to the Pats, lol.

And unless something happens to Brady and we're stuck with Hoyer as our QB for an entire 16 game season, we're not picking anywhere near the #1 pick.

You're probably right. Tua is the best quarterback in the NCAA. No team in their right mind is going to trade him away.

And Trevor Lawrence? The NFL is littered with guys who had cannons for arms and didn't amount to anything. Can this guy lead? Are other guys on the team going to follow him? I don't know...

You all seem to be referring to a College QB who looks sure shot to go in the first round and be a NFL star and franchise QB.

Let's look at all QBs taken in the first round with similar credentials over the last decade. That's 30 players over a decade. Do you guys see 30 franchise QBs? What was the hit rate? I'd be surprised if it's greater than 50%. No matter how sure you think you are, it's still a lottery. I count Stafford, Newton, Luck, Wentz, Goff from the 22 selected before 2017 with the 2017-2018 classes still to prove themselves fully. 5/22 seems a bad hit rate.

2018:

1. Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma, Browns

Forget this tanking or trading the farm stuff, the Pats have to get back to that cycle they used to be in where they’d have two first round picks every year, use one & trade one. Then they pull the trigger the year the traded one ends up being a great pick.

THAT’S what makes other teams’ fans heads explode. Come on, keep hope alive.

To do that, you need:
(A) A major asset to trade away, either a player or a first-round pick.
(B) A team willing to trade away a first-round pick in a future year plus a sufficient pick in the current draft.

(B) has become much more of a sticking point in recent years.

There is nothing resembling a decent qb in this draft.

Waiting until 2020 to draft a qb is preferable.

With a good year, next year, Fromm could be exactly what we need, plus he would excel in our offense.

If there's one thing that BB's tenure has proven, it's that it's relatively easy to maintain a winning team year-after-year through cautious, incremental annual roster turnover.

Easier to do with the GOAT at QB though

*i’m not advocating tanking btw
