Personally I think the NFL is a star-driven league and steady eddies are overrated, so I like the risk taking. But it does eerily remind me of Ron Brace, just superficially, the draft position, teams with character concerns, etc.

The problem with Ron Brace was the guy next to him on the DLine, B. J. Raji. Teams concentrated on stopping Raji, making Brace appear much better than he was.

I know your kidding with this post, but everyone should take into account, that the Pats spend alot of time and energy on targeted nutrition plans for all of thier players. Something even a big school like Alabama can not do. I think writing off a 21 year old kid, who hasn't had a day of practice as a pro yet, is ridiculous. I liked the pick, thought he was a beast in the National Championship game. He can only get better now being a full time athlete with nothing else to worry about. I think it also helps that he has plenty of other Bama guys in the Pats locker room.

Lets see how he looks after conditioning and a few months of a meal plan (not the unlimited ice cream meal plan from college) targeted to him.

You made an excellent point, a real professional meal and conditioning plan will be most beneficial. However, the Alabama meal plan is hardly limited to unlimited ice cream. LOL :)

LOL, nope, at least for the football players and other athletes, they are treated like royalty, no food lines like that.

There have been a few in the media that have suggested that the best AL teams could beat some of the weakest pro teams. IMHO that is obvious nonsense, 19 and 20 year old kids can’t complete with adult professional athletes.

...However, with grudging admiration (grudging since my own university competes for financial resources with them) saying that the U of AL state of the art athletic facilities (including food and nutrition, strength and conditioning facilities, and their near unlimited budget for assistant coaches) are comparable to some pro teams...well, that is probably closer to the truth. What Saban wants, he gets, it isn’t only his personality that draws top rated recruits to U of AL., the athletic facilities are dazzling. ;)

I thought it was quite funny, LOL. I remember my days in a college dorm (although no wild fraternity life like Bluto had), back then I was especially impressed by the orange juice dispenser (free orange juice!!) and the plentiful non-powdered milk, these were luxuries I had definitely not experienced at home. I was one of those guys who thought the dormitory food was amazing, LOL. :)

I was just using the opportunity to comment (or perhaps complain?) a bit about the U. of AL's gold plated athletic facilities (and army of assistant coaches of various types, many former big name head coaches in rehabilitation), they certainly spare no expense, it is really comparable to NFL facilities. Of course, those facilities help to recruit their top rated 5 star recruits, and that leads to national championships that lead to fans willing to pay practically anything for ticket prices, plus boosters making gigantic donations to the athletic program, etc., etc., so I guess it pays for itself (or at least that is what they claim).

patriots-christian-barmore-why-fell-in-nfl-draft. Read this article in SI. Apparently Barmore has some character issues, which scared off other teams. He would have gone in the first round otherwise.

This is exactly what happened. In terms of physical talent and on the field talent, Barmore is a no doubt 1st round guy. Everything on film says 1st round pick.

Barmore fell because 'off the field' issues. Now if anybody has the inside skinny on Bama players, it would be BB because he can talk to Nick Saban directly. If Saban had told Belichick, look Barmore is a really talented kid, but he's uncoachable, stay away, Barmore would NOT have been the Patriots pick in round 2.

I trust BB to have done his homework on Barmore and I trust his connection to Nick Saban. Yes some NFL teams got spooked by 'off the field' stuff and took Barmore off their draft board. But Belichick apparently believes that stuff is either overblown or is correctable and that Barmore has the type of character needed to be an NFL pro for the New England Patriots. And that's all that matters. On top of that the Patriots have one of the best locker rooms and cultures in the league. Barmore has a much better chance to succeed here than anywhere else.

Until the stories come out what really happened with Barmore, all I can do is trust in BB and Saban. They have the closest intel/scoop on what's going on with Barmore.

I see a lot of messenger attacking in an effort to ignore the message. Its just information. It might be true or it might not.
He also predicted Vita Vea wouldn't make it in Tampa because he was too big to play in the heat and the Panthers D-Line would dominate the Pats O-Line with backup Russ Hochstein playing in the 2004 Super Bowl... Pats beat the Panthers and Tom was sacked zero times. I’ll take my chances with Sapp’s assessments.

I propose a special award for the poster that defended one of the slowest players players in the league, and the slowest at the 2016 NFL combine. His time of 5.46 was truly impressive.
