System QB Tom Brady will be roasted live on Netflix

It's a pretty bad look to do all the celebrity things Tom does like having his own production company and being in movies about himself such as '80 for Brady' and 'Man in the Arena' yet not understanding what goes on at a celebrity roast. It makes him look really out of touch.

It's more probable than not that Tom knew what he was getting into, thought the publicity and money outweighed any collateral damage, and believed that he could largely mitigate any damage by doing a few mea culpas afterwards. And he was mostly right.

Thing is, he already had money and fame, now he has this collateral damage to his kids and his sisters to deal with and IMO that is very difficult if not impossible to mitigate. Even worse is he probably could have protected them by just doing the same thing he did with Kraft, by setting up some boundaries with the producers. The roast would have suffered a bit but he still would have gotten lots of cash and publicity. IMO, overall he comes across looking like a schmuck. IMO the roast will be something he'll regret for a long time.

Brady wishes he hadn't agreed to the roast after he saw the negative reaction from his kids.

He agreed to do it because of his ego and narcissism.

Good lord you are worse than Jets fans. You know for a guy that has such an ego, he sure heaped praise on every single team mate he ever had while ne ver ever saying he did something by himself. I understand you are a hater and Brady probably long ago ruined some argument you had on bledsoe and that they should have kept Bledsoe and Brady made you look stupid and you cant forget it, but maybe its time to let it go over a player who was the most important player in your supposed team's franchise history. Or...maybe its time to grow up

I am going to say its not nearly as bad as you are making it out to be. Saying that he probably shouldnt have done it looking back, I doubt his kids are scarred for life and will spend years in mental institutions trying to get over the trauma.

25m goes a long way to make everyone feel better about life in general.

So you suggest I'm exaggerating by writing "collateral damage" then you come back with "scarred for life and will spend years in mental institutions trying to get over the trauma"? Exactly who is exaggerating?

I'm fine with what I wrote, including the part about how he could have avoided the problem just by putting in better ground rules, which you ignore.

A little googling suggests his net worth is $350M and that his new deal with Fox will bring in $375M. It also keeps him in the spotlight so he can continue to do endorsements. Given all this, it seems stupid to have exposed his sisters and kids to public ridicule for $25M when he could have avoided that with a little bit of work up-front.

He could have gotten protection for them by threatening to walk away from the project. He did exactly that for Kraft, but not for his family. Now he says he was naive, which IMO is absurd. Anyone who has watched a roast before knew how it'd go. He knew how it would go because he went out of his way to get protection for Kraft. Basically he and his inner circle messed up by leaving his family exposed, but he doesn't want to say that.

Or it was all a negotiation. We can't talk about Kraft and your family? Why are we even doing this?

All while dangling a 25m carrot in front of him.

How many carrots does a person need when they already have a lifetime supply for themselves, their kids and their grandkids?

If it was indeed such a negotiation then he can't later say he was naive, all he can say is he was a bad negotiator.

My very limited experience with people with money is that what they have is never enough.

haven't read all thread, but I wonder if Brady wanted to do this because he wanted to let the whole world know that Gisele was the cheater. He had to know the jiu-jitsu jokes would be flying and his X would take a beating.

My very limited experience with people with money is that they care about their legacy and hire people to help them avoid PR gaffes.

If Tom simply doesn't give a ****, he's an exception to the rule.

That idea has indeed been floated earlier in the thread.

The downside of it is that his kids have to deal with their mom and their aunts being publicly slut-shamed.

It also goes against the successful co-parenting narrative that Tom and Gisele have been floating since the divorce.

I'm saying that as most things the media tend to make something more dramatic than it is. I think everyone will be ok. I didnt bash you or anyting so I didnt ignore anything. But things get overblown when it comes to Brady, example....this board.

Doubt it went that deep

I came in here to say this is the best titled thread ever or at least that I recall. Makes me laugh everytime somebody bumps it up.

This is ridiculous though. No way any rational person would do that. He is a very public football player and probably is used to people saying **** about him in the locker room and public and did not think much about it. You need to have think skin to be in the public eye and especially with what he has gone through over the years.

That said I was surprised that he was surprised it impacted his kids. Maybe he thought they were used to it or they are now just at the age where kids become mean and tall **** to each other.
