Very sad, quite a long and spectacular history, but the media world changes..............

they are not needed anymore...

Al Gore destroyed the economy.

Maybe not needed but without today's SI in 6 months my barber and doctor's office won't have any 'new' content other than 2 year old issues of Car & Driver

The internet remains undefeated

I haven't subscribed to SI in years, but I do order the Super Bowl commemorative issues. I noticed the quality of paper used isn't as good as when I subscribed decades ago. Seems like cost cutting measures extended to all areas as online outlets took market share.

Regards,
Chris

Sometime in the mid-90s I had a subscription to Patriots Football Weekly. The editor guy - Fred Kirsch I think? - wrote an editorial about how the internet wasn't going to disrupt anything. His prediction was that the big change on the horizon was more cable TV channels offering more focus/specialization.

I mean he's a sports writer not a futurist so I'm not gonna hate on him too much for it, but for some reason that article always stuck with me as a reminder of how we can let our fear of or inability to see change on the horizon coax us into believing the status quo will remain for forever.

So my point is buy bitcoin.

Quick—someone spin this into a new Antonio Brown thread.

It's simple, Millennials ruin everything. Where's my ball? I wanna go home.

P.S. Now what happens to all those poor swimsuit models.:(

You either like change or like irrelevancy more. Maybe my fav quote.

Sux but this is like cab drivers being taken over by Uber. You could see it coming light years away.

Very similar to scouting. 24/7, never stops & the pay/work dont add up.
I don't think the average sports fan understands how little most of these guys/ladies make & the amount of time they put into their job. Its basically a 24/7 job that pays 30-40K after we get our money stolen by the govt.

Imagine covering the Orioles, Fins or Devils the last 5-10 years. Watching that mess. Getting paid nothing. Then fired & tweeting your services are available for work.

Nah go for broke and make it about how our uniforms lead to Butler's benching which caused Kraft to seek relief at the hands of aging Asian ladies which lead inevitably to AB.

Actually, the swimsuit issue will probably be more important to them than ever.

Uber Sux. Devils have been better than the Rangers over the last 10 years. But yeah, change happens not always for the better.

Crazy that a mainstream print magazine showcasing naked transsexuals didn't sell.

The swimsuit issue is basically an appetizer for actual porn and just redirects people to porn sites without getting any revenue for it.

Uber/Lyft/Cabs all suck around Boston but I have to say U/L are better than Cabs nowadays.

I haven’t read a Sports Illustrated magazine since their Super Bowl special issue three years back claimed the Patriots “taped the Rams practices”. Trash journalism.
