Speculated INJURY

As a doctor, I can tell you that many times, a torn ACL doesn't feel "painful". There is a pop and a weird feeling. The ACL is a ligament that prevents your knee from popping out of the joint forward.

There are many people who come to the hospital and say they "hurt" their knee, but have been walking around on it for weeks with it not getting better and finally making an appointment. Only after a physical do they realize that their ACL is torn.

Rather than pain, the feeling is more like your knee is about to give way. There's pain when there's certain turns or bending over, etc. But overall, it's more of a fluid feeling and a feeling like your knee is "lose".

He may very well have torn is ACL and been close to the sidelines and then limped/quickly taken off the field and then wrapped.

Hope that helps.

In you professional opinion as an orthopedist, is there anyway an achilles injury could be confused with an ACL knee injury?

As stated beforw in this thread

Hart Lee Dykes without the strip joints.

At least Marquise will have someone to play with in the limo rides next year.

What a waste

Why bother even posting this? Assuming Chad Jackson did injure his achilles/ACL, was it his fault?! Grow up and cut the kid some slack.

First of all, I won't get into the fact that there are two other people who said CJ is hurt.

Second of all, you're twisting what the draftnick said. He said "ACL or Achilles." It was off the top of his head, he couldn't remember which one it was, ok? But he remember it was bad test result. Cut the guy some slack.

Furthermore, the draftnic said "probably out for '07." When you just say "out for '07," you are stating a fact. When you modify it with the word "probably" everyone knows that what you said was your opinion, based on the vibes you got from your source.

I think it's more than just two, actually - I believe Reiss had it in his mailbag a few weeks ago that CJ had hurt his knee and I've heard it talked about on EEI as well. But nobody thought it was anything remotely serious.

I don't see why this Scott Wright fellow would lie or risk his reputation, so as much as I don't want to believe his report, I'm sure there has to be some truth to the fact that CJ is more severely hurt than we had thought. Maybe Wright will clarify at some point, but right now, we can assume that Jackson hurt himself, and it's more serious than we thought. Whether he's out for 07, well, I kind of doubt that personally.

all we know is that CJ is injured. How severe is it is the question. We had the same thing with Kaczur last year. He was injured, missed training camp, and the beginning of the season.

Unfortunately, if CJ missing training camp again, it will hinder the development of one of our prospects.

It would be a major blow as I'm sure the Pats were counting on CJ to play a much larger role next season. I think it certainly changes what we do in FA or the draft.

Perhaps he should have verified his information before printing it?

I know I'm old fashioned.

By the way, did you hear we attacked Iran? Or was it Iraq? One of those.

I guess it doesn't matter.

he didn't print it, he's not a writer. -- as a favor -- he answered a question to a Patriot fan on his message board, as to why he thought the Patriots would draft a WR in the 1st round. He was explaining his rationality for why the Pats would pick a WR in the 1st round. His specialty is the draft, for all 32 teams.

Now whether we will draft a WR in the 1st round, who knows? That's a whole new debate.

BTW, I don't get how Iraq and Iran have to do with CJ.

Overreact, much? No one even knows if this is legit.

It's his site and he printed it. I understand he has no credibility to lose but he printed it, others repeated it and his very explanation is farcical on the face of it.

Chad Johnson?

Me believing CJ is hurt (but still wondering about the extent) doesn't put any $$$ in my pocket. You being skeptical doesn't put any $$$$ in your pocket. I don't really get why you want to knock the man, considering he had two other people verify that CJ was indeed seen injured, but I guess good for you.......

well, I'm done with this thread.... Cya

Patriots-80 and others...

We begin with this:

FWIW On the WEEI football show the week after the title game they were talking about the WR spot going forward. When Jackson's name came up, Steve Nelson who was at the game sitting in the crowd mentioned Jackson being on the sidelines with his leg wrapped.

Then arrive at this:

No, I don't think WEEI picked it up from the draft site. Steve Nelson on WEEI said he was at the game, and saw for himself that CJ's knee was getting wrapped.

---

Now, all do respect to the above posters, but we really don't have an official quote from Nelson himself. If Nellie said he saw "his leg wrapped", then it could mean his thigh (above the knee). It could also mean this legwrap was ice, and could even mean it was his hammy or groin acting up. Coincidentally, the hammy and groin are the ONLY two injuries that Jackson has reportedly suffered since he was drafted. But of course, neither one of these injuries would be considered serious enough for CJ to miss the '07 season (or even part of), as Wright inferred with this:

You do realize that Jackson is probably out for the '07 season with an injury, right?
---

Also, I do consider Scott Wright to have a solid reputation in the draft field. If he claims someone told him Jackson's injury was serious -- I'd tend to believe him. He trusts his source, but I won't without knowing who the source is.

Remains speculation until the local scribes want to dig...

I said I was done with the thread, but it looks like I made a mistake I need to correct before I'm done.

Woops, you're right I made an error. I transcribed mentally this quote

I e-mailed with a respected member of the media, whose facts/opinions the vast majority of Pats fans trust, and he said:

"knew he hurt the knee, but don't think it's that bad."

with the Nelson one. It was not Nelson who said the knee, it was the "respected member of the media." Sorry.

maybe its a strain ACL, not a complete tear. I don't see someone walking off the field with a COMPLETE tear.

A strain is enough to keep Jackson out until he's collecting social security.
