Doubt it. Probably just speculation.

I doubt Mac would play at all if he had that kind of injury and this wouldn’t be the first time we’d hear about it either.

A mild AC joint sprain can be played on. He could have a grade one AC joint sprain. It is painful and could affect his throwing, but is something a player could through. A grade one is no tearing and no movement of the collar bone.

Well. Oddly, it makes me feel better about Mac. And I already am convinced he is the chosen one.

As long as he doesn't end up going the Jimmy G path of annual injuries.

The Brady path is to play through the injuries. The JAG path is to sit out with injuries others would play through. In year one, we've got Jones going Brady.

And, lest people think I'm bagging on JAG rather than just noting the historical difference, hat tip to him for playing through that thumb issue this past weekend.

I wonder if Garoppolo would have played Sunday if his future wasn't on the line. He is either playing for the 49ers keeping him and eating his overpriced contract to give Lance another year to develop or another team either trading for him or signing him to make him their starter. Him playing through the pain and playing well did a lot to help his future. I just don't know if he would have done that if his job and salary were secure next year.

First, not believing anyone associated with that show has a “source inside the Patriots.”

Second, if he has an AC joint sprain as
bad as Jimmy G did and the Pats didn’t put him on the injury report, the league would have a real problem with it.
I thought injuries only have to be listed if the player misses any practice time for it?

The Pats hid injuries for Brady all the time. Teams get caught not reporting injuries for QBs all the time. After this season, I guarantee you there will be at least several big name players throughout the league who will get surgery for injuries they got during the season that never appeared on the injury report. It happens every offseason.

And I am convinced that Brady and a lot of QBs wouldn't have even missed any time if they had what Garoppolo had. My guess is Brady would have been out on the field the next play after spraining his AC joint. So would Roethlisberger (although Ben would play to crowd how he was playing injured). Mahomes played the Super Bowl with turf toe that required surgery right after the Super Bowl. So he probably would have played too.

Plus, just because Jones had an AC joint sprain doesn't mean it was as severe as Garoppolo had.
Every player in the nfl is injured to some extent during the season. If it was something serious, it needs to be reported. Otherwise the team can and will get into a lot of trouble. That’s why Belichick went crazy with the injury list 10 years ago. It’s why the Ravens have been fined numerous times for this.

Mac isn’t seriously hurt. On the off-chance they somehow have a real source that isn’t playing them, then the only purpose of letting that info get out is either 1) to excuse-make for Mac, knowing he’s not seriously injured but trying to get that perception out there, or 2) to take a pot-shot at Jimmy G. Does #1 really sound like how the Pats operate? I suppose #2 could be true.

Not exactly.
https://operations.nfl.com/media/2683/2017-nfl-injury-report-policy.pdf
The Practice Report is expected to provide clubs and the public an accurate description of a player’s injury status and his level of participation during the practice week. All players who have reportable injuries must be listed on the Practice Report, even if the player takes all the reps in practice, and even if the team is certain that he will play in the upcoming game. This is especially true of key players and those players whose injuries have been the subject of local or national media coverage.

It's also worth noting that pain thresholds differ.

This explains the bad 6 recent weeks since the Bye. But at the same time it's also possible in parallel Mac is still regressing due to crappy oc coaching.

I wonder which game/play it was where the crappy oc play calling and O-Line management led to Mac taking a big hit to his throwing shoulder.

.
Oh my goodness dude STOP. ENOUGH. IT'S UNHEALTHY
