Normally it would allow team behind them to jump up and take the Patriots spot, but with second round not starting until the next day can the Patriots essentially delay their pick until the next day?

Ha! I thought the same exact thing. @Uncle Rico must be a bit touchy (he's a "touchy kind of uncle") to throw up the dreaded red X.

In the end, I was spot on though. The last handful of picks in the first round started to go around 11:00, and we were pretty much done by 11:25--11:30. There's a pattern to these things

It took me WAY too many years to figure out- but I finally realized there's no point to me watching the draft. Here is what will happen:

1. The Pats will trade out of the 1st round. I will wonder why I wasted an hour or two of my life just to hear Jets fans boo everytime they say Patriots before trade... My wife will ask multiple times who they took, pretending not to be irritated I took over the television for no reason at all.

As noted to @Ross12, I can get away with Thursday and even Friday, but come Saturday no wife/girlfriend wants to watch 8 hours of the mid to late rounds. Hell, even I have a hard time paying attention myself.

I learned the hard way that you can't reasonably expect any female to put up with 8 hours of the last day of the draft. It's just not realistic.

Lol, it was more like I was up posting on Patsfans til 1:00 AM and had to creep into bed because if I woke her up I was gonna get my ass beat.

Well, I made it to the very end (almost fell asleep though) and I was rewarded with not a trade, but an actual pick, and I could see for myself that we now have (hopefully) Vince Wilfork's replacement. Also, hearing Roger Goodell get booed every time he approached the podium was worth watching. My copy of 3 Games to Glory apparently has arrived at my house today, so I may opt to watch something other than Rounds 2-3 tonight (will probably keep hopping back-and-forth though).
