Sony Michel Injury (update: Expected to Play Week 10 vs Titans)

Farrow was a practice player of the week and could be added for Buffalo. Candidates for opening a roster spot include Davis, Grissom, etc., or someone to IR (e.g. Rowe).

Grissom has been limited in practice and out for the past four consecutive games.

Rowe was out with his chronic groin injury for weeks 3-5, played limited snaps the past two games, apparently re-aggravated it in Chicago and didn't practice today. Rowe was on the injury report in 2017 for 12 consecutive weeks with a groin injury, and missed 8 regular season games.

I don't think either one can be "legally" cut under the circumstances. Given his history with this groin issue, Rowe to IR seems to make the most sense to me. Grissom is a high-value special-teamer at least (typically plays on all four units).

Since the Pats didn't make a move for another RB before practice (no new faces reported), it seems that they're unlikely to this week. That still leaves the possibility of promoting Farrow over the weekend.

However, if the Pats don't acquire a new RB, and don't promote Farrow, that may be the most solid indicator we could ever have that Sony won't be out for long (much better than media speculation).

Although it was only a video game, I had Sony finish with 35 carries, 219 yards, and 5 TDs vs. Eli and the Midgets.

If Farrow was taking handoffs from Brady with the starting offense, instead of handoffs from Hoyer on the scout team offense against the starting defense, that's a pretty good indication that he's about to be promoted.

Farrow looks slow as molasses but has a lot of power to him, which we need

FWIW, comparison of pre-draft measureables ...

BARNER, 5092/196 (age 28)
... 4.39/40, 1.58/10yd .. 20 reps .. 35.5 vert/122 lj .. 4.14 ss/6.87 3cone

MICHEL, 5105/214 (age 23)
... 4.54/40, 1.56/10yd .. 22 reps .. ** .. ** .. 4.21 ss/ **

WHITE, 5091/205 (age 26)
... 4.57/40, 1.60/10yd .. 23 reps .. 32 vert/114 lj .. 4.20 ss/7.05 3cone

FARROW, 5094/220 (age 25)
... 4.59/40, 1.62/10yd .. 23 reps .. 38 vert/122 lj .. 4.14 ss/6.95 3cone

** For whatever reason, Sony chose to not perform the complete testing workout at both the Combine and his pro day.

FWIW #2 ... FO has the Pats OL ranked 2nd best in run-blocking, behind the Rams.

Farrow is a bruiser and can help in the Bills matchup. It would be great if the Pats emerge with proven depth in Farrow and Barner for the late season so that Michel can get to the playoffs healthy enough to be a factor.

Like Barner, Farrow appears to be a runner who knows how to follow his blocking, and who doesn't crumple on first contact. With a very good run-blocking OL - plus Develin, Gronk and Allen - that much could be more than enough to get the job done.

Wow. When do we play Tulsa?

I bet the 2016 Tulsa team could have given the Bills a run for their (limited amount) of money. And no, that Tulsa team was not very good...

Definitely run behind Develin. Otherwise you go on IR. :p
