Somehow, every WR drafted is worst than the last.

Patriots WR Draft Management

2006: Trade up to 36th overall. Draft Chad Jackson. Pass up on Greg Jennings

2009: 3rd round. Draft Brandon Tate over Mike Wallace. Wallace is drafted with very next pick.

2010: 3rd round. Draft Taylor Price. Pass up on Golden Tate in 2nd round.

2012: Draft Jake Bequette over TY Hilton.

2013: 2nd round. Drafted Aaron Dobson, passing up on Keenan Allen.

2014: Draft a backup QB in 2nd round, pass up on Jarvis Landry who is selected with very next pick.

2017: First selection in 3rd round Draft Derek Rivers. Pass up on Chris Godwin, who is selected with very next pick.

2018. Two first round picks. Pass up on DJ Moore and Calvin Ridley.

2019. Draft N’Keal Harry at 32 overall. Pass up on AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, Terry McLaurin, and Deebo Samuel.

2020. Trade down from 23 to 37. Pass up on Brandon Aiyuk, Tee Higgins, and Michael Pittman.

2022. Trade up to 2nd round draft Tyquan Thornton. Pass up on George Pickens who is selected with very next pick.

2023: Pass up on Zay Flowers and Jordan Addison in round 1.

Draft Keion White in round 2, pass up on Jaylen Reed and Rashee Rice.

2024:

Draft Ja’Lynn Polk.

Some of this is obvious only in retrospect. For instance, Keenan Allen was drafted in the 3rd round, so you'd need to criticize the whole league for passing on him. Keenan Allen is not an obvious pick. You can't just look at the players who succeed in retrospect. You have to ask if they're obvious picks prospectively.

The one that will always annoy me is 2019. From what I read, scouts were pounding the table on AJ Brown or Deebo Samuel over N'keal Harry, only to be overruled by Belichick. It seemed to me that Bill was sometimes blinded by 1) character over talent (he said himself he'd rather have nice players he enjoyed coaching at this point in his career) and 2) wanting to appear smarter and hit home runs on under the radar picks.

Another thread about N'Keal Harry and AJ Brown? The first 200 threads were not enough?

makes the memory of letting Jacoby Meyers walk out the door burn even more...
For a second I thought he typed something else yesterday . Thankfully nothing. Btw were anybody able to understand what Polk tried to communicate. I don't speak gen alpha

he didn't... I was just late to the table on this thread...

You can tell from his posts...we won't get much out of his hands. Polk must have aced the Wonderlic.

I realize that most wide receivers develop into first class “Prima Donnas” but usually it’s after they’ve actually proven to be at least a positive contributor.

How is it that our wide receiver group have reached this status (or at least believe they have) while having a league reputation as the most insignificant WR group (by far) in the NFL?

Look at what we have on the field any given Sunday, I sure don’t see a “Prima Donna”, how ‘bout you?

Ja’Lyn “Allstate®” Polk
(You're in good hands with Allstate®”)

Kayshon “tired of demanding the ball” Boutte

Javon “bring your popcorn“ Baker

Tyquan “One Catch Wonder” Thornton

Pop “you can’t guard him in a phone booth” Douglas

KJ “if they want to trade me, I won’t be upset” Osborn

Kendrick “Ima play better NE” Bourne (could be our best “bet” but may want to check with Boutte on the odds)
