OK, we signed UFDA Brian Hoyer, so now that BB has officially signed at least one guy I predicted we might go after I feel redeemed enough to start thinking about 2010. With 3 2nd round picks we have flexibility to anything we want.

Some players I like:

- DE/DT Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska - a monster, great 3-4 DE candidate; will likely go top 15
- DE/DT Arthur Jones, Syracuse - 6'4", 295# player who would be a solid 3-4 DE
- DE/DT Leonard Marsh, Florida - extermely athletic 6'5" 305# guy with the potential to be another Richard Seymour type
- SILB Brandon Spikes, Florida - great complement to Mayo, unlikely now with McKenzie on board
- OLB Sergio Kindle, Texas - 6'4" 255# with LB experience, possible sub-4.5 40
- DE/OLB Greg Hardy, Mississippi - 6'5" 265# monster with 4.65 speed; tremendous pass rusher. Not sure if he is a 3-4 OLB, but is worth watching
- OT Adam Ulatowski, Texas - athletic and versatile 6'8" guy who can play inside or out; would be a nice complement to 6'8" Sebastian Vollmer
- DE/LB Eric Norwood, S Carolina - a fire hydrant at 6'1" 270# with a nose for the ball and great pass rushing ability, could be terrific at SILB if McKenzie doesn't work out.

Lots of others, but these are some of my favorites for now.

We also essentially get an additional free 2nd round player in 2010, as Brandon Tate should be recovered and could be a quality addition.

Cheers Mayo and thanks for all your great insight into this years class

Im all drafted out haha. Let's get to this season.

Mayo, your work was very insightful this offseason. Great information and analysis.

2010 is the year of Alabama!!!!!!

Let Wilfork walk - we want MOUNT CODY!!!!!!!

And second ILB Rolando McClain is a must have!!!!!

We'll be picking #32, and have a ton of FA's so BB will have his work cut out for him.

Let me guess, you're going to play Mount Cody in the middle with Vince Wilfork and Ron Brace at end? Not much of a pass rush, but together they would form a barrier from one hashmark to the other.

No "must haves" so far for me, but a lot of very interesting players. In fact, since around 9 PM yesterday, 2010 is now officially my all time favorite draft.

I think he wants us to play a 5-2 front. 3 defensive tackles, 2 defensive ends, plus Mayo and Thomas. That would get our best players on the field...

Screw Bama. Cody is a lazy lard ass. *just kidding*** Sorry my LSU personality just jumped out.

as u were....

I'm a PSU homer. But, don't sleep on Jared Odrick. He plays dt in PSU's 4-3.
He's about 6'5" 300lb. Tall, angular build. Doesn't even look 300 lbs. I think he will
project to end in a 4-3.

One day after the draft and MayoClinic is talking 2010 draft class?!?

Mayo = RELENTLESS.......

I meant that in the nicest way.... o'course

But the ends will have to run a very long way to get to the QB with those 3 guys inside.

I love the 2010 draft. Can't wait to pick at 32 and 64, plus our 2 additional 2nd round picks.

Just wait four years for when Barwin's rookie contract is expiring . . .

I can't wait. Even better, maybe he'll be a bust at Houston and they'll cut him in a year or 2, and we can pick him up and convert him to OLB. I'm torn between that vision and the vision of Barwin sacking Manning the way AD sacked Brett Favre.

There is only one player I want in 2010 and thats Mark Herzlich OLB BC. He is the best collegiate LB I have ever seen dropping back into pass coverage. He can rush the passer and hold the edge. He stands 6' 4" in the 240's ... I bet if he was played at TE he could do that as well seeing how good he is at picking off passes. I think he had 3 or 4 this past season.

That you a Texans fan now Mayo

I was just going to put him on the list here. Loved watching him last year.

Vince Oghobaase.

Learn him, love him.

Sey's replacement.

I'll add LeGarrette Blount RB from Oregon to the list. He's a JC transfer, and had a disciplinary issue this past offseason, but no one from the team will talk about it, so no one knows if it was showing up late to a team meeting or something more serious.
Youtube him, though. He's like Brandon Jacobs but with speed, lots of speed and bruising power.

I play Warren at DE and Mount Cody in the middle and Wright/Green (I think he resigns) at the other DE in rotation. Brace is the backup NT; Green/Wright and Smith are backup DE's.

As long as Wright And Warren stay strong on running downs, No one can run on us, not with Mount Cody in the middle.

On third down and medium to long I move Warren to NT. Green and Wright rush the passer while Mount Cody sits.

I am thinking Seymour and Wilfork will get us two third round comp picks.

as u were....

After watcching Alabama steal one from LSU last season, I can see how you would be upset.

I am no Alabama fan, but I would love to see these two Saban stars on our defense. Sweet!!!!!

Im going to give a few names on my watch list for some possible positions of need (IMO)in the future...

OLB/DE
1) Sergio Kindle OLB/DE Texas-A True LB with DE experience. Good Pass Rusher with Upside.(My Binky for 2010...no homo)
2) George Selvie DE/OLB South Florida-Most likely will be the number 1 pass rusher to come out next year. Not sure about his coverage skills if any.
3) Greg Hardy DE/OLB Mississippi-Good Pass Rusher but like Selvie im not sure if he can play in space.
4) Jerry Hughes DE/OLB TCU-Reminds me of Larry English, Undersized (6'2 248) but he is a pass rushing terror.
5) Sean Weatherspoon OLB/DE Mizzou-I am not sure he can play as a 3-4 outside linebacker but he is a very good all around talent.

ILB
1) Brandon Spikes ILB Florida-Leader of the UF defense, very good in coverage for an ILB and a big hitter and sheds blocks quickly, everything you want in an ILB.
2) Rolando McClain ILB Alabama- Much of the same that goes for Spikes goes for McClain.
3) Joe Pawelek ILB Baylor-A straight tackling machine

TE
1) Jermaine Gresham TE Oklahoma-One of the best Pass catching TE to come out in awhile. Perfect Red zone threat at 6-6 250lbs.

RB
1) Jonathan Dweyer RB GT-Every Down Back who can pound the football but he has the speed to take it to the house.
2) CJ Spiller RB Clemson-A top flight Home Run threat we lack in the backfield.
3) LeGarrette Blount RB Oregon-Every Down back that will wear teams out but long speed is questionable.
Many Many more to come from this crop, deepest in years IMO...

I dont get a chance to watch many Pac10 games so Id appreciate it if anybody who does can give us some prospects to look out for this year.

I just posted this on the sticky thread, take a look. Im am just enamored with the depth at RB especially with the speed in this class. I hope to God Kindle slips to us, I watch a lot of Big XXII football, this dude is a beast and the best part is he is a true OLB with experience playing DE thus he is not a real conversion project.
