Had a solid rookie season but was up and down last year. Davonte Adams roasting him being the low point of the season for him. Good player going forward maybe someone we can count on or not?

I like Logan Ryan. I think hes an average CB2 and a good nickle & dime DB. He has good ball skills, good tackler.

In all seriousness, he should excel in a zone scheme. He is obviously very uncomfortable playing tight man2man.

probably lose the AFC divisional game, had Harmon not cheated towards the end-zone and intercepted the ball. Ryan could not catch up.

It seems like everytime he was playing LCB/RCB, the opposing team will pick on him.

He may be no better than a slot CB, as Arrington is.

Ryan was considered as a press-corner when he was drafted by the Patriots. Press is if you can get close to the opposing WR. He wasn't in 2014.

He was being toasted late season/playoffs. Maybe, he'll get better by changing his role. Long term, I see him as a FS with very good ball skills.

Here is the fatal flaw in a lot of people's arguments that the Pats defense is doomed because we lost Revis. They continually make knee jerk assumptions based on whatever the last game was. Last year was Kyle Arrington's best and most productive year as a CB, and yet because he lost 3 jump balls with a 6'6 WR, the masses have dismissed the other 18 games where he was an asset overall.

More importantly they continually forget that diligent players with good coaching continue to get better. Ryan, Butler, and Dennard are all if nothing, diligent hard working players. Why wouldn't I think that they are likely to be better this year than last. Especially given that all of them probably play more man coverages than they ever had to that point.

Again, losing Revis' HOF talent, and Browner's unique skill set was a significant loss for the defense. No one is saying differently. But to think the entire D is going to fall apart, is rather shortsighted and narrow thinking

PatfanKen, it's good to see a guy whose breakdowns I always appreciate giving props to what remains of the secondary as it presently stands -- but the heart of the wailing and gnashing of teeth is not that they ever were the worst secondary in the league, but that they had a year at close to the best, and boo-hoo, that's over now. You'll never see anybody saying "damn I wish those guys were harder-working and more diligent, like Darrelle Revis." We've lost some special talents on D. Obviously you touched that base in your post - and it's not as if we never succeeded pre-Revis and pre-Browner - But I'm cutting the chicken littles some slack on the "OMG we just let that secondary dissolve" front.

Still good post... but it'll be September (and beyond) before we know the magnitude of the loss and how/whether we counteracted it.

I think they can get a 5th for a team desperate for a CB. Hell if Sopoaga can net a 5th Dennard sure can...wait, are we not desperate for CBs? Keep the beast.
