So let's just recap this Patriots season so far, shall we?
They lost and/or jettisoned 4 of their 5 top receivers before the season even began (Welker, Lloyd, Branch, Hernandez)...
They have lost key playmakers on offense to injury (Vereen - 1 game played; Gronkowski - 0 games played; Amendola - 3 games played)
They have depended on a basically an all rookie receivers corps, with no tight end to speak of, although Michael H has been decent in spots...
On defense, they have lost two of their three best defensive players to season ending injuries (Wilfork & Mayo) and the third one could be out for an extended period with a hip injury (Talib)...
They have lost Tommy Kelly, their second best defensive lineman (with apologies to Chandler Jones), to injury for an undisclosed stretch...
And yet, here they sit @ 5-1 in first place in the AFC East, with three pretty winable games coming up before the bye week (@ Jets, Dolphins & Steelers @ home).
It is not a stretch to think they could be 7-2 or 8-1 @ the bye...
And yet, I still find people out there who think that Tom Brady is NOT among the top 3 QBs in the league and Bill Belichick is NOT perhaps the greatest coach of all time, executing the most amazing coaching job of his career with this team.
I just don't know what to say to those people, frankly.
