So I guess bill didn't actually believe in Stidham.

Supposedly, Newton approached the Pats and said he's willing to play for less to have a shot at the playoffs. This wasn't a case of BB looking for competition for Stidham, but BB taking advantage of a golden, low risk opportunity.

I think BB believed it. Brady always accepted less, this time he didn't.
Exactly. Bill assumed Brady would play on crap deals forever. Now we have 3 back up QBs. It will be a blessing if this season is cancelled.

With our lack of depth, Newton was clearly signed as a TE conversion project.

Continuing to just make sh.t up I see.

Honestly it's NOT EVEN CLOSE comparing Newton's accomplishments with Stidham. Cam Newton won the Heisman. Drafted #1. Went to a Superbowl. Won a NFL MVP. It's not even close. But not surprised it's being hotly debated in Boston.

.
I didn't compare the two, but what Cam did in the past will be irrelevant if he isn't healthy and/or Stidham simply plays better.

IDK, if you can get a former league MVP who is only 31 at a ridiculously low deal, you give it a shot. I don't think this has anything to do with Stidman and everything to do with taking a gamble that Cam Newton can regain his MVP form now that he recovered from his foot injury and two years removed from his shoulder injury.

I don't have a lot of confidence that we will see a 2015 League MVP Cam Newton or even a 2017 Cam Newton, but what is the risk in seeing if he can return to form? He has a half million guarantee.

Agreed, it has nothing to do with Stidham. You build a roster by acquiring as many good players as possible. If you have a great O-Line you aren't turning down a potential All Pro guard to sit on your bench. Football is about surviving injuries, the best teams are generally also the deepest teams. You don't want one good QB, you want two at a minimum.

Your last wish will definitely be granted. I put the chance of the NFL playing this year at Zero.

Bill assumed that Brady would have retired by now
