So Far, The Patriots Have a Broken Connection With Dwayne Allen

Ian Logue

Looking over the Patriots stats through four weeks, it's pretty obvious that on the offensive side of the ball, one of these players doesn't quite fit in like the others.

If this guy isn't one of the least cost-effective TE/WR/RB in the league,
then I'd like to know who the others are.

But, but, but...all those missed throws are Brady's fault!

It’s no secret that some players have a tough time settling into this offense and Allen admitted back during training camp that he might have been in over his head.

It is extremely hard,” Allen told the Boston Herald. “I’m not going to sugarcoat it.”

However, it’s not like Allen was shipped here and this wasn’t a place he wanted to be. He told the newspaper that being a Patriot is something he he prayed for, but when that opportunity finally came along, it may have been a little harder than he thought.

It is hard but also stimulating and very exciting,” Allen said of learning the offense. “It is one of those things that where you pray for something so long, and when it comes, you can’t cry because it’s harder than you thought it was going to be.”
I guess it is a hard offense to to learn.

I think it's crazy knowing that he only has 6 targets through four games. That's a LOW number.

Meanwhile, Develin has 3 catches on 3 targets for 20 yards.

Well yes, the few times he has thrown to him he was wide open and Brady missed him badly
Ah, no. He has hands of stone and doesn't know how to adjust to a ball that isn't perfectly thrown to him. If I were the Pats I would develop Hollister and forget about this guy. But as I've said elsewhere, defense is a bigger concern right now as the O continues to put up decent points despite everyone not being on the same page.

meanwhile Derby is making 1 handed TD catches

Well when you are wide the F open the ball should be on target.. god forbid we criticize Brady at all

He (Brady) was scrambling around looking for an open guy. Allen just stood there waiting for the ball to reach him when there were no defenders within 5 yards of him. He had to adjust and come back for the ball, but just kept standing there. He's paid too much to do that. I'll bet Brady doesn't even bother to target him any more. It's a wasted throw.

Can't say hands of stone if the passes aren't getting to him or hitting him in the hands. Poor routes? Maybe but on Sunday Brady threw it short. Allen was wide open.

Just going to put this out there.

On that one particular play on Sunday Allen was wide open. This isn't defending Allen's whole season. He has only been targeted a few times this season and there's a reason for that. I don't know what it is.

But this incompletion looks like it's on Brady to me.

I do think Hollister makes this catch because he's a better receiving TE but then you have to discuss whether you want a blocking TE in the formation or not. Point being you can't throw the same pass to Allen as you would Cooks.
