SNF @ Baltimore - Do You Think We'll Get Flexed Out?

Status

Nope, and we'd better not as I have concert tickets earlier in the day and I specifically bought them because I would be home to see the Pats play the Ravens later that night!

Hope you get out before 4:25 now

Re: SNF @ Baltimore - Do You Think We'll Get Flexed Out?l

Bears-Eagles now SNF.

Wow I was dead wrong with this. ...

Piss me off. Now it most likely will not be shown here in greater Tamper Florider

Kind of surprised they flexed it out.

If it's on TV here it's good, if it's not it sucks.

Thread title change is in order.

Typical NFCE bias (not just in moving the Pats, but the Cards and Seahawks is a better game)

Wow, I'm really surprised by this.

First off the Pats-Ravens game is not a dud; both teams would be in the playoffs if the season ended today. Has a game ever been flexed out of SNF when that was the situation between those two clubs, other than in week 17?

More surprisingly is the replacement. To me if it was going to be flexed out, Indy-KC or New Orleans-Carolina made a lot more sense (though as pointed out previously, it was doubtful that they would put the same two teams on SNF in the span of three weeks).

In theory flex scheduling is done to get a better game, but consider the current combined records of the teams involved:

  • 19-7 -- Saints-Panthers
  • 18-8 -- Chiefs-Colts
  • 17-9 -- Patriots-Ravens
  • 13-11 -- Bears-Eagles

While I can somewhat see the argument that a win or loss to Chicago or Philly is more critical than it is to the Pats, Chiefs or Colts, it's still a head-scratcher in my opinion. I don't see enough of a need to change all the logistics for those going to the game.

After that last 3:50 minute game, this is a very good thing... would have preferred 1:00 PM...

You have good chance of getting it.

CBS DH week

TB plays at 1pm on FOX

So mean you will get a 4pm CBS game. Not

Raiders vs Chargers
Steelers vs Packers
Pats vs Ravens

I am assuming Pats vs Ravens will be CBS National Broadcast

I did see some speculation that CBS would call in their marker for giving up the KC/DEN Week 11 game because that Pitt/GB wasn't looking as enticing for a national game like it did before the season.

I am wondering if this is a make up to CBS for taking away Chiefs/Broncos first match up of the season. That game was protected originally by CBS. By giving them a sure to be high ratings game back

Weird choice, but glad they did it. Chicago really has no chance at the wildcard, they'd have to jump 2 teams, one of which is 2 games in front of them. They need to hope Baltimore beats Detroit this weekend to have a real shot at the division.

Also it looks like it's setting up for yet another week 17 NFC East title bout. Even if Dallas goes in a game behind Philly they have the tiebreaker if they win week 17. We'll see how Dallas blows it this time.

Surprising, but nice.

That makes a lot of sense, because the Pats-Ravens game did not meet the NFL's criteria for being flexed out.

NFL Communications - Week 16 Flex Scheduling: December 22 Bears-Eagles Game Moves To NBC Sunday Night Football Patriots-Ravens Goes To 4:25 PM ET On CBS «

The NFL uses “flexible scheduling” on Sundays in Weeks 11-17. Flexible scheduling ensures quality matchups in all NFL Sunday time slots in those weeks and gives teams a chance to play their way onto primetime and into the late-afternoon 4:25 PM ET time slot on CBS or FOX.

It's tough to make an argument that the Bears and Eagles have outplayed the Patriots and Ravens this season, or that the Bears-Eagles is more of a 'quality matchup' than the Patriots-Ravens is.

People are underestimating the star power of Josh McCown.

Word out of NY is that CBS got Pats-Ravens back for the fiasco with Broncos-Chiefs. Story is CBS protected the game (Broncos-Chiefs) originally but the NFL promised CBS reparations in this game and they took it. So NBC flexed under the premise that it was a better matchup when in reality, CBS is just getting their end of the deal fulfilled. Riveting stuff!
