Sit the starters this week and play them against Miami

That's fine, if you expect the Steelers to lose to one of the backup quarterbacked dynasties such as Baltimore and Cleveland; otherwise, what the Jets do is completely irrelevant.

I think the Steelers pretty much secured their position on Sunday with their comeback, unless they really manage to blow it. Let's hope they do.

i might be wrong but if the Chiefs, Jets and Steelers are tied the Steelers are out

Pats need to win at least one game right? It's going to be better to have two shots at that then one. So this will never happen.. OP you should let this go..

We need A) worry about our own team only. Not worry if jets win what it does to steelers or broncos. I dont give a damn about any other team B)No victory is guranteed. We lost to the damn eagles at home and we are saying the miami game is a lock win ? We lost to a 1-15 miami game in 2004.
Take care of business when you can. Other teams can go f themselves.

The Jets are the odd team out, as the Steelers jumped into the 6th slot with a win over Denver last week, and they hold all of the tiebreakers.

With the Amendola sprain issue, and Gronk looking in pain on almost ever snap last week, we could see

Martin - SlotWR
Hankerson OWR
LaFell - OWR
Chandler - TE1
Jackson - RB1
White - 3DRB

I would Dislike this lineup vs what we started with this season.
However, I fully expect a healthy Gronk to start.
If Jackson sees action as I hope, it sets a team record for number of offensive starters in a season.

I'm thinking a good strategy with all of the injuries and banged up players would be to sit the starters this week or only play a quarter, rest up get healthy and then in Week 17.

Most likely DA/Jules/Devin/Hightower/Chung/banged up O-line will be out anyway we give the starters a bye and then against Miami we play hard get a week rest and avoid the rust of sitting guys for 3 weeks straight.

It also means that if the Jets win, Chiefs should win that the Steelers or Broncos could be screwed (Steelers even if they win outright or the Broncos if they lose to the Bengals).

what if NE loses under your strategy and then loses the following week? Stuff happens in the NFL. You have to win as many games as possible. Don't rely on beating Miami, especially down there where we have had trouble.

BB hate the Jets franchise for reasons we all understand. He will want to take care of business NOW not wait till Miami.

Knocking them out of the playoffs would make his day.

"You play to win the game".

@Ian Can you explain the purpose of a "disagree" rating? It seems like the OP is receiving ratings he doesn't deserve.... It doesn't make sense that people should receive negative ratings for just expressing their opinion, unless it's flagrantly inflammatory

again, health is more important to this team and its chances of winning another SB. Having to beat the jets this week just because they are the jets is ridiculous IMO.
This is a team we might face in the playoffs. Do you want to give them the confidence that they can beat us? A tough win only makes us stronger for the playoffs. Its also called momentum.

I for one would rather have the Jets in the playoffs and the Steelers or Broncos out, preferebly the Steelers.
Because we easily beat the jets and not the Steelers?

Beating the Jets this week accomplishes the goal of locking up HFA, and it also knocks the Jets out of contention.
I have to agree. I think it's important to do everything to win this week. Some guys should probably be used sparingly...but still used on certain plays. Being a 'must win' for the Jests means it's going to be physical, so limiting certain players might help lower the risk of injuries.

Go Pats!

If I'm BB I come out playing to win but if the game starts heading in a bad direction I pull the starters.

The Jets have been trying to waste Brady behind the scenes and behind his back for years. This deflation thing will never leave Brady's mind. Brady and Belichick hate the Jets as much as anyone.
Regardless of what Belichick says, the Pats are going to try their best to win this game.
Let there be no doubt. Home field is just a bonus and a convenient excuse for the effort, altho make no mistake it is important.
Just know that Belichick and Brady have one goal in mind when the game starts - winning it.

No

Go now just like in SB36. A week from now is unpredictable.

My understanding is that a "disagree" is a neutral rating. A "dislike" is a negative rating.

I find both disagree and dislike useless if the person giving the rating doesn't provide feedback. There are a few on here that constantly give disagrees and dislikes without any inkling as to what they disagree about, specially as you say if its someone else's opinion.

Disagree: have or express a different opinion. Men can disagree.
Dislike: a feeling of distaste or hostility. Women dislike things.

Even if we lose to the Jets this week I'll still be giddy about these facts:
1a - The Pats will still only be one win vs Miami away from the #1 seed in the AFC.
1b - The Jets could go 11-5 and lose out on the playoffs to an 8-8 team, just like the Pats in 2008.
1c - Indy is well on their way to missing the playoffs.
1d - Baltimore is not only missing the playoffs but bringing up the rear in the AFC.
1e - Denver could still miss out on the playoffs entirely.
