SI: Pats could be on verge of signing Seau

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

Not so surprised they are bringing Seau/Colvin back, but just shocked that it has taken this long ... so does this mean Woods or AD go on IR?

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

Awesome!

His presence can be nothing but positive in the lockeroom at the very least.

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

or bruschi isnt 100%

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

That is great news!!! Seau and Colvin will provide leadership and stress down the stretch. They will both help the pass rush as well.

Does this mean Woods may have broken his jaw?

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

I'm kind of glad that Mayo and Guyton will have another veteran to spend a month with in addition to his contributions on the field. I'm not an Xs and Os guy enough to know where he'll fit it but it he can help with short pass coverage zones on 3rd down, that would be great.

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

The Pats linebackers are falling like flies. Looks like reaching into the retired/out of work pool again. HOpe it works. Seau has always been an energy guy when he was the Pats and perhaps he can give some much needed leadership to that D.

This most likely means at least one of our current LB's are pretty much done for the year.

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

With Colvin there was an open roster spot due to injury, so the only gamble was whether he would be an upgrade over a practice squad player, so it was a no-brainer.

Now if the decision is to use Seau to try to get into the playoffs at the expense of not waiting for Thomas or someone else who might come back in a few weeks, I think it might be a bigger gamble.

But if someone is really hurt and unlikely to help much over the next 4 games, I'd say the risk of signing Jr. is worth the reward, easily.

Could this be bad news regarding Bruschi's knee?

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

Not sure this is "awesome!" and "great news!"

The Patriots didn't need Junior Seau until now.
They felt better with Bruschi, Mayo, and Guyton in the middle.
Now they might need Seau.

Seau has been out of football all season, and is 40.

He did play better than Bruschi last season.

But, if the Pats need him now, it probably means one of the injured linebackers - who the Pats preferred over Seau -- may not make it back.

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

Just goes to show we need to get younger at the position come draft time. I see us drafting another LB in second round this coming draft.

The next rumor will be that Andre Tippett has been spotted

working out in the weight room. Last I heard he was a forum

member.

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

It never really made sense to me that they didn't have him on the team from the beginning. At this point, you have to wonder if the Colvin and (possible) Seau signings were made too late.

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

aright, we needed another member to totally bring back the geriatric squad

It's not age, it's health.

Mayo, Guyton, Crable, Woods, we have plenty of young LB. Some aren't healthy, others will be better next year. We MAY draft a LB high next year but we don't need to. Add Vrabel and Thomas to that list, probably Brushci too and it's a healthy mix.

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

We have back up guys he could be replacing. Is Alexander on IR? Or is he still on the 53?

Re: SIats could be on verge of signing seau

I'm surprised Seau is interested. Pats are not exactly in contention right now.

Alexander is on IR, but in reality he's simply a ST player. As an LB he's awful, Izzo awful. An yes I remember Izzo's pick against Buffalo 31 -0.
