Should we trade for LT Kolton Miller?

Because drafting a tackle at 38 hoping he’ll be a top 15 LT, is no different then putting all your odds on red.

With miller you know what you’re getting, plus a little potential upside. When you combine that with this years lack of top talent at the tackle position in the draft, it would have a much higher floor then any tackle at 38. I might say even at number 4. Upside, that’s a different story. As much as I’d love a top 5 tackle protecting DM for the next 10 years, I also think it’s more important to have him at least have a stable/reliable LT for the next 2-3 years which will be so important to his development. It could make or break him.

Because if you trade for Miller it allows you to take Graham or Warren. So you fix LT and still get a top 5 pick to add to the roster.

I don’t think that’s a good reason to make a trade. i’d prefer to draft our franchise tackle and not trade for a guy that is almost 30

If the Raiders are willing to pay Miller, then the dream is basically dead right now. The Pats are in a position to acquire players at a discount because they’re willing to pay a player long term even though their team sees them as one more season and gone. The Pats are not in a position to overpay to pry away a player that was not already on the trade block.

Miller himself is also a cautionary tale that your long term left tackle doesn’t have to be a good day 1 left tackle. He allowed 16 sacks and 61 pressures as a rookie, both leading the league. I don’t have the 2018 PFF stats in front of me, but (with an extra game) they say 12 and 54 were the highs this past season (Dan Moore and Trevor Penning, respectively).

I mentioned Miller's bad rookie year in my post in this thread. I didn't realize it was THIS bad, though. BUT ... this can be thought of as a cautionary tale that reminds us that what players show as rookies does NOT always represent what they ultimately end up as. By all accounts, Miller is a quality mid-level NFL starting LT now. And NOW is all we should care about.

Now we all know that this deal is NOT going to happen. LV has the money to pay this guy and given the renewed emphasis league wide on the importance of the OL. It doesn't make a lot of sense for them to make this deal just to move up a few picks.
