Interesting move - I haven't looked into it too closely but it smacks of "Oh yeah? I'll sit out the season AND I'll collect my full pay if you don't want to do a long-term deal."

That being said, this gives both sides some time to get a long term extension worked out... they have the cap space, and the fans will not be happy about them pulling the rug out from Daniels when he's on the cusp of taking them to the next level.

I love the guy but a healthy Diggs fills his niche

Diggs has performance incentives, plus he needs to blow it up this season to see the next 2 years of his contract.

McLaurin throws a wrench into the whole deal.

The Pat's haven't had a real #1 WR for a while until Diggs. I see him with 1000 yards and the last WR like that was 2019 Edelman.

Of course anything can happen. Diggs getting dinged in camp where he can't go changes the whole scenario.
