Should Sudfeld be day 1 starter at TE?

Though I haven't seen it in preseason and his 225 bench at the combine didn't indicate it either, Sudfeld supposedly rated as a top blocking TE in college. I'm not sure what that translates to here but admittedly I like to talk (post) for the sake of talking (posting)...

I'm certainly nothing close to a draftnik but I'd have to assume that he could be a very nice blocker next season and into the future, just going off of his raw skills and reputation alone.

Add some more bulk/muscle and we could have a nice blocking option for the yrs to come. In the meantime he should be able to provide enough blocking potential to get by, while also giving us something of a downfield passing option at times.

Just FYI TE at Nevada have been blockers first... Pass catchers second. Check out Virgil Green for the broncos. When they are running he's in. Suddy will get his nose bloodied if he has to.

Let's hope he doesn't have to.

Zach Sudfeld, Nevada, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

03/17/2013 - 2013 Nevada Pro Day: Representatives from 30 NFL teams gathered at the pro day held at Nevada, where 14 players went through a workout held outdoors on FieldTurf. Zach Sudfeld, TE (6-6 3/4, 253) - Sudfeld ran the 40 in 4.77 and 4.71 seconds. He had a 9-foot-5 broad jump, a 4.48-second short shuttle and a 7.00-second three-cone drill time. He also performed 11 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press. Sudfeld had a really impressive workout. What he needs to work on is his strength. Sudfeld has the potential to compete for an NFL roster spot, but between now and training camp he has to get stronger. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

I think he'd make a great blocker!!

A little misleading - you block with your core and lower body, not necessarily with your upper body.

Anyone can lock their arms - it takes a strong posterior chain to generate that push needs in blocking.

I'm sure he is much stronger than you are...he will be good enough.

Are you sure because I saw a pic of Brady6 and he looks like he can easily bench 225? Dude is jacked..for real.

He may fly planes but I'm guessing he could easily carry the plane on his back if he needed to.

I would fear for his safety on a NFL field if he was not

I don't doubt he'd be fine, probably more than fine but Ballard and Fells are very good blocking TE, I have also seen very little of Sudfeld as an inline TE during the preseason which further led me to the opinion I provided.
