Should Butler have got the MVP?

He comes across in interviews as an exceptionally nice and classy guy. But it's going to be really, really tough to manage that kind of fame: the level of distraction and the constant fending off of opportunists trying to capitalize on his situation is going to be difficult.

I've always wondered whether NFL teams have a kind of specialist to help players manage their sudden fame. Most players at least have experience being in the limelight in college, but some, like Butler, don't.

He was around making plays since preseason. Since the SB, I've watched all 23 games consecutively, and the kid was always brought in when someone couldn't do their job. Both Ryan and Arrington were pulled at times throughout the season, because Butler matched up better.

In the SB alone, there are multiple sets of nearly identical throws against different cbs, and Malcolm made a better play nearly every time. Bill has shown he doesn't mind relying on Arrington,Ryan and Dennard, but for an UDFA to earn BBs trust on the final play of the Super Bowl means he came a long way and didn't make many mistakes.

I'm calling him the real deal. Match ups are match ups, but I predict he will largely overtake the #2 cb and we'll see Browner on a lot more TE duty. It's a huge jump, but there are signs from throughout the whole season, not just the SB.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned here already, but I haven't seen it in the press. Butler was crying after he got up from making the INT. He just had a huge welling of emotion, and it seemed just impossible to control. When you think about, making the Super Bowl winning INT alone under crazy circumstances is enough to make anyone cry. But when you combine it with the fact that this kid came out of nowhere to make the team. Not even a regular UDFA contract. Formerly community college and small D2 school. Combine that with the fact that he came on to play later in the game. Combine that with the fact he felt awful for letting the miraculous catch happen.

The kid could not control his emotions after that catch. You could see his teammates trying to help him.

Has to go to TB. The first INT was bad, the second you have to give credit to wagner, the most athletic lb in the league and he made a great play. Brady was asked to carry the offense on his back, throwing the ball 50 times, with no semblance of a running against a defense built to destroy passing offenses. Of course, with 50 passing attempts that defense is going to make some plays but for most of the night TB neutralized and frustrated them. The unbelievable 4th quarter absolutely washes away his one bad play early. Wouldn't have minded if it went to Edelman though. Guy was an absolute warrior throughout the night and made some huge plays. Of course, Butler gets the Most Valuable Play award, but not most valuable player.
