Reid will hold the record before it is over. Easy 10-14 wins every season with Mahomes.
For Bill to limp along for the next 4+ years with a crappy team to just hold Shula's record is absurd. Let him move onto somewhere else to do that.
Honestly yeah. He might not have won until 2019. But Reid was winning a lot in the regular season for years. He 17 double digit win seasons. Bill has 20. Reid is going to have the advantage of Mahomes for at least another 10 years if he wants to coach that long. Bill now has to find his next guy and might need to go to another team to do it. Reid also has less losing seasons than Bill.

The all time coaching discussion could get very interesting depending on how long Reid hangs around

Is the article correct, Bill needs 18 more wins to pass Shula? Howe wrote:

"Belichick is sitting at 330 career victories. For a while, Belichick had been on track to surpass Shula’s 347 wins in 2024, which would sync up with his 50th season in the NFL.
But if the Patriots don’t start beating comparable opponents, let alone the perceived superior foes, that 348th victory may not be within reach in 2024. And if this chase continues at the current pace, how much energy would the fan base realistically expend to celebrate No. 348 — whenever it may come?"

Regular Season - Shula 328, Belichick 299

When factoring in postseason Shula 347, Belichick 330

I tend to agree, I think he will be hard pressed to find a team that’s both A) in good shape already and B) willing to dump or demote their current GM to give him roster control. If their current team is already good then it doesn’t make much sense to let Bill override them. If their current team is not good then Bill probably doesn’t want to go to a super crappy team and start a whole rebuild for several years. I wouldn’t be super shocked to see him accept a job elsewhere on a solid team that doesn’t give him roster control but lets him have a say on player acquisition to some extent.
Serious question: if he'd be willing to do that elsewhere, why would he be unwilling to do the same thing and stay in Foxboro? He can be a voice in the room, just not the guy with the final say.

Do fans really care about that record? I know I don’t care that much about it and think it’s been a detriment in the last few years. I feel like that’s why we didn’t get the full tear down in 2020 then got the free agent spending spree in 2021 that yelled limited success. Honestly Reid will probably break that record anyways as long as he and Mahomes stay healthy. Reid has also put together multiple good to great teams with multiple average to HOF level QBs where Bill has had his only real success with Brady and one season in Cleveland.

I couldn't care less about it. Never have. It means nothing to me. I care about the team.

I appreciate what he's done but he's not doing his job and hasn't for a while.

At one point in 2021 this team was 9-4. Since then they are 10-17 (inc playoffs)

He needs to get this program to being competitive.

If he can't then Orchids of Asia needs to hire someone who will.

The record is kind of lame IMO. He has 6 Super Bowls and the playoff win record.

Halas won 318 regular season games with 10-14 game seasons. He’s the true king of consistent, long term winning, and even if Bill passes him there’s no way you can argue Bill’s record is more impressive given the schedules.

Also recall all the Pats “fans” saying in 2020 they don’t give a F about Brady’s career touchdown record.
What do you mean "fans" ?

I think the situation that would unfold is that he would think he’d get what he wants elsewhere originally and leave NE, Kraft moves on, then he wouldn’t find what he thought he would find.

I could be wrong though. Obviously we are in uncharted waters.

Now it’s considered a lousy draft? Captain Hindsights claim this now although the so called draft experts and media had a lot of hype surrounding those 5 qb’s. Obviously the Pats “ruined” -struck out either way you look at it

Your gonna use Hurts as an example who has 3 first round young talents with D Smith, Aj Brown and D Goedert. Also has a multi probowl offensive line in place pretty much before he got there.

You can also look at it as they just pick better players in the draft and go for the win with big time trades like for Brown. Most of those great picks were made from 20 and under though. A benefit BB has just recently got to experience.

I think he might, especially if they agree to do it without it being widely reported. But I think the question is becoming if the coaching is good enough to warrant him keeping his job.

Andy Reid is not young and a health scare/son murdering someone away from retirement.

First you criticize him for his bad choice of Mac and then propose giving him another shot?
NE only had Covid Cam to fall back on at QB.

So, they needed a QB in a terrible QB draft. The only way out of this mess is a new QB next draft. The last 2 drafts have been good, so give BB the chance to right the ship.

I wonder how much if any off the record input Kraft had on this article.

"There’s a school of thought that suggests Bill Belichick has earned the right to go out on his own accord, that the architect of the greatest dynasty in NFLhistory can coach in New England as long as he chooses.

Kraft doesn’t subscribe to it."

No matter what RK or any owner says. The NFL is a business and results driven. For 19 seasons RK has gotten more than ample results. The last 4 seasons not so much obviously. No matter what happens the rest of the season I think we all can sense there projects to be organizational change. Strictly looking at the product on the field this is probably as worse a roster as 2020.

All dynasties end. This one just took longer than most.
Agreed! witnessed 2 decades of greatness, a great ownership, a great HC and of course the GOAT QB. 2021 gave us hope. This team was even the #1 seed believe or not there season. It's pretty sad to see how far we've fallen. I never envisioned we would be cellar dwellers in the NFL.

Yes. Lots of empty seats and pitiful play coming up?

What do you mean "fans" ?
The people who wanted to see Brady succeed in Tampa were accused of not being fans of the team by the ******s around these parts (one of whom is now a Chiefs fan, I guess). So he’s turning that language on those people a bit, or so I would guess.

Yes. I have a friend after 25 seasons he gave up his season passes. He isn't alone. Owners know the temperature of thier franchises. RK is very adept owner he isn't disconnected. I'm sure he and people have already decided based on the talent alone change is coming. If this team was exciting to watch and giving the fans something to cheer for.. But just on the loosing end then it would probably be perceived differently?

All the talk of BB leaving is fine. The real question is who would be the best to replace him next season?
People thought Payton would be an immediate life change for the Broncos - but clearly not.
I wonder if the Krafts would be brave enough to find a new, inspiring coach, not just another re-tread.
I've never liked BOB for that. And I'm not sure Mayo is the right choice right now either.

It starts with a GM. As Kraft, do you hire a new one or do you like what you've seen in Groh and/or Wolf? Let them lead the coach hire.

I want a clean break from any Bill disciples. Look at Ben Johnson in Detroit, Eric Beinemy, or maybe even Lincoln Riley who can potentially be a package deal with Caleb Williams.
