I wonder how much if any off the record input Kraft had on this article.

"There’s a school of thought that suggests Bill Belichick has earned the right to go out on his own accord, that the architect of the greatest dynasty in NFLhistory can coach in New England as long as he chooses.

Kraft doesn’t subscribe to it."

Shula went out when he wanted to, but he averaged 10 wins a season for his last five seasons with the fins. So i could see kraft pulling the trigger. I'm sure kraft would love to see bb get the record for most wins as the pats head coach but not if the team plays like this. It would take years of losing seasons for BB to get the record.

If the team plays like this, it’ll take another 5 years for BB to get the record.

Shula had 1 losing season in the last 19 years of his career and even that was 8 years before he retires. He also went out with his team making the playoffs two years in a row and him winning a playoff game. Bill hasn't had consecutive playoff seasons since 2019 and hasn't won a playoff game in 5 years. By comparison Shula made the playoffs 3 out of 5 times in his last 5 years, never had a losing record and was 2-3 in the playoffs including an AFCCG appearance. And 2 of the 3 losses ended up being to the AFC Super Bowl representative.

Also new ownership likely forced Shula out despite the fact that he was stilling putting out a wining product that was somewhat competitive.

Bill needs to go to a contender team where he is not allowed to pick groceries and be limited to a HC and defense side of football .

It ain't happening with the pats. If Bill stays it will take us at least 4-5 seasons to win 29 games.

Now let's see whether bill can notch his 300th win this season.

Kraft wouldn’t be alive to see this if the team is built like this every year and plays like this every week.

We ain’t playing the Jets every week.

Every man for himself. Scurrying for the lifeboats as the good ship Patriots starts to sink.

- Mac sourcing his friends to comment it’s not his fault

- Belichick using his media sources to let it be known he didn’t want to draft Mac and that it’s on ownership

- Kraft using his sources to let it be known he doesn’t like what’s going on and that Belichick’s job is not safe

RIP Pats Dynasty

Biggest mistake of Krafts ownership.

BB needed a QB in a lousy QB draft. Lawrence looks like Mac with long hair some games. BB got duped by his pal Saban who is starting to be a nut. Saban sided with Mac over Hurts who is 10 times the player. Already went to a Super Bowl and is on course to go back.

BB deserves 1 more shot in a QB rich draft.

Well Mac and Belichick shouldn't be here next year. So Kraft will have the chance to prove they are the problems.

No.
He had his shot and missed.
He doesn’t know how to draft WR and QBs. He has had misses in terms of o-line. He has been poor in free agency.
With the exception of Gonzalez who was a luxury pick he did not address the huge holes this team had on offense. You can have the best defense in the world but if you can’t score more than 3 points then you as a coach and GM have failed. He has been trying to rebuild this team for 5 years now. He has missed over and over again.

Also the reason Brady left. You can’t keep surrounding an aging Brady with value trash year after year.

BB thought he was a genius but truly, without Brady he hasn’t done anything.

All dynasties end. This one just took longer than most.

"Make the playoffs" is the floor when your QB is Marino. Shula was achieving the floor for Marino's whole career. I'm glad they let him do that as long as they did.

The record is kind of lame IMO. He has 6 Super Bowls and the playoff win record.

Halas won 318 regular season games with 10-14 game seasons. He’s the true king of consistent, long term winning, and even if Bill passes him there’s no way you can argue Bill’s record is more impressive given the schedules.

Also recall all the Pats “fans” saying in 2020 they don’t give a F about Brady’s career touchdown record.

Saban picked Tua over Hurts not Mac.

I was sad Brady broke the record elsewhere but was still happy he got it since 95% of it came here. I would feel the same with Bill when he gets the win record with the Chargers in 2025.
