It's easy, and only takes a few moments. He's been a big disappointment so far, can't cover, has a hard time finishing plays, really surprised that Mingo hasn't passed him on the depth chart yet. Can he be even worse?

He will be replaced permanently. BB can't possibly like what he sees on film from Shea
Note also that Belichick doesn't feel able to judge how a player did without first seeing the film.
Well obviously he has to make judgements during the game - can't wait for the film on those moves. And some stuff both he and we can tell - if a corner is overmatched on a receiver say, or someone isn't setting the edge. But LB play is often more complex and we are missing both the all-22 and the key to what the player was supposed to be doing. Why are people still so gullible that they believe that? We know, for an absolute certainty, that it's not true. If it were true, we'd never see players getting benched during games.

McClellin robbed Belichick blind with that contract.
One of the big stories of training camp was that McClellin only played defensive end. There were daily updates about how he still hadn't played linebacker.Agreed. But I think BB must have thought he could be a valuable asset (worth the contact) if used effectively to his strengths, but just hadn't happened so far. I think this was a rare whiff by BB.
Does anyone recall what position/role he was initially tried out for early in TC? That might give an indication of where BB thought he could be a useful cog in the NE D machine. I'll do some Google hunting and see what I can find, and report back.
When he tells you that he can't judge how a player did without seeing the film, he's usually lying. Call it stretching the truth, if you prefer. It's the same with injuries.
Or, to put it another way: he's able to talk about Mitchell's block on LGB's run, and what he did on every reception, so don't buy into the ludicrous notion that he couldn't talk about McClellin's whiff on a tackle (just for example) if he so chose.
