Shane Vereen

I really like what he brings but it is hard to see him back if there is a demand for him on the open market. The Pats have higher priorities and he plays a position which traditionally has a short shelf life and where 2nd contracts often end up being bad values. Add in they drafted White as his replacement last year and I believe he has Welker's agent repping him. It seems most likely he will end up elsewhere.

A friend of mind said after the game even though Shane Vereen had one of his better games for the Patriots he is not that Elusive in the open field he is not like Darren Sproles out tjhere I said Hmmmm.

His price went up big time. That's the downside of having a solid year and great Super Bowl.

I think the team really wants him back -as do I , but if some team comes along with big money I'm not sure he's worth it.

I was thinking a 4 yr deal @ 3m per ave but I think that's low now...

4yr/$12M seems right for what the patriots might be willing to pay. Even this is a lot for the patriots to pay a running back. As you say, I'm not sure that eventhis will be enough. Don Brown, Darren Sproles and Shonn Greene all have caps at about $4M.

Give his jersey to James White. Cheaper and fairly similar players.

Perhaps, we should give Wilfork's jersey to Siliga, or Mayo's jersey to Casillas.

HE is cheaper. He is also similar in that he is a 3rd down type back. Unfortunately, that is about where the similarities end. Which, without proof, dosent cut it.

Well the post was supposed to be sarcastic. It didn't work. :(

Reiss sounds pessimistic about resigning Vereen, including in his mailbag this week. Apparently, Vereen has the same agents as Welker, and they're once again starting with very high requests.
