Seats that some unlucky schmucks are going to pay big $$$ for

Given the performance of the Geldings this season, some fans might prefer to look at two poles versus that mess. But, I bet they have a great view of their participation banners.

There has to be some rational explanation for this.

I refuse to believe any reputable organization sell these.

Right guys?

Indiana state building code:

IC 1
TITLE 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS
ARTICLE 1. LAWS GOVERNING THE STATE BUILDING CODE.
SECTION 72.a

All Cup holders are to be attached to chairs. The number of cup holders must exceed the stadium's capacity for people in attendance.

Hopefully some lucky Giants fan gets those seats!

In stadiums with obstructed view seats such as these the team only sells those tickets if all other seats are sold out, and they typically make it clear that they are obstructed view seats. The problem is that for an event like the Super Bowl most tickets are sold through the secondary market; who is to say that the seller will take the same steps to make it clear how bad those seats are?

If they were going to put seats there they may as well have turned them with the backs to the field and let the people there watch on a monitor on the opposite wall, or better yet just sell them as SRO tickets.

In regards to the additional seats being sold, is it really worth it considering the negative reaction when that was done last year in Dallas, and how much the NFL is already making from this game? I'm actually somewhat surprised they can even get away with adding 5,000 seats from the local fire or building inspector.

I mean, seriously, you could put a little concession stand right there or something. It doesn't have to be dead space, just don't put seats there that NO ONE will actually use.

I would put a Colts Cheerleader right there in front of those Pillars.....With her shaking her stuff 6 inches from your face you won't care what happens in the game anyway

Those seats are inactive for Colts games it seems.

wow seriously who was the dumbass architect that designed that stadium

bad thing is i bet there are 3 other corners that look exactly like that

So, they're adding some 3,000 seats for this game. Where are they going to be set up? Anyone know?

i have no clue ive been to Lucas Oil Stadium once and that was for my sisters State Band Competition and i never seen any vacant areas but its the NFL so you never know by gameday im sure they will have some excuse why they didn't go up but no refunds like last year.

I'm a little dubious that that picture isn't photoshopped - it's such poor design with 2 seats angled towards one another and giant concrete supports right through the line of sight. If that's the way that support was designed, then are there equivalent seats behind a concrete wall all throughout the stadium?

If you think this stadium is bad, there is one in Warsaw in which every seat is behind a Pole.

No, it's for real. Check out the article and very same photo from when the media was given a tour of the stadium when construction was finished, as well as comments from a Colts executive about those seats.

How about that Lucas stadium view? | The Indianapolis Star | indystar.com

Apparently the stadium is full of obstructed seats, so those who are buying tickets should beware & try to get a view from the ones they are buying from one of those sites that has views. It is a surprise that a new stadium would contain seats like this.

Maybe they don't actually pump in crowd noise, it's just the poor bastards in those seats screaming "WHAT'S HAPPENING?!?".
